as the title says

Do you have to wait for the whole block chain to download in the reference qt client before sending coins?

what happens if you send coins before you down load the entire block chain.

Is an effect you will only see your send in your client when that block is downloaded as well

Are there any other effects, risks etc.

1000 doge bounty to answer I like the best.

yep, the software is so user-unfriendly  you have to wait for the whole chain to download before you can do anything at all. Great isn't it.

Why not use a client like electrum that doesn't download the blockchain? Its up and running in 5 mins.

Even if I win, no dogecoins for me please  Grin

I like this coin because it is a satire of cryptocurrency.  It came at the right time, pump and dump was getting ugly on crytpsy.  Doge is able to simultaneously market itself and make fun of other quick mines.  "Much profit..."

The coin has some community happening, and I hope it reminds everyone that there's bitcoin, and the community behind whatever else.  Dogecoin has been fun too, people just give it away all the time.

Do you even mine?
