Good luck getting valids until the difficulty increases a few times.  No pool can keep up with a long poll every tenth of a second.

I have five workers, and pretty much at all times at least 2 of them are disconnected, and usually for at least a minute before they successfully reconnect... by which time others got booted...

Is the DDoS protection the problem here?

All five of my miners idle, all five needing multiple attempts to reconnect. This isn't a stales issue... Zero hash per second because they keep getting booted and can't get work blocks.
