EDIT: The bottom fell out of this thread quickly due to a typo.  I can't trust in rationality as much as I had, so I'll just post a new thread with a title that will hopefully not confuse the utter hell out of everyone who reads it.

Thanks again for those of you who gave such solid feedback, you know who you are.  I will post the new image, but sadly, confusion and intolerance took over here (partly my fault), so a fresh start is what's needed.

It's a nice graphic work, but a lousy logo. It will not work on small sizes...

i suggest the "locks" being rotated to point to the center could suit better to the coin. And of course a standard-image shouldn't be rotated already.
Why that structure on the surface? To me it seems a bit unsettled. Also that's making it less a logo. Try to make a clear version for those needs in vector-format.

just my 2 BTC-cent Wink

I also would be intrested in what made you unsatisfied with the other "logos" used in the web.. just to follow your thoughts.

No.  What are those things around the outer edges?  Lit from below looks odd.  Thai symbol is inappropriate and not needed.  This would be better suited to a real coin than a logo.

Keep trying.

Why do some people root against others?

With this kind of opening, are you looking ONLY for praises and not criticism?  Grin

The "locks" around the edge (at least, I think that's what they are?) would never show up clearly if the image gets much smaller.

The coloring is pretty, but a bit.. "much".

The "current" logo:

Is simple, it's not confusing (the "dollar sign" marks in the B itself lend itself to be viewed as a monetary unit), and... well, it works.

I thought the locks around the edges were floppy disks. I like the font, not so much the shading, lighting, disks and rotation

I'm sorry but if you can't print a logo on a pen-size gadget and keep it readable, it's not a good logo IMHO.

Very true. It has to be usable in any number of sizes.

Durp.   Embarrassed It's not a logo, just a new style of the coin.  The tilted image was wrong attachment!  Revision will be properly upright.  There was some discussion about the floppies looking like pad locks but I figured I'd see what people thought before making them obvious floppies.  The idea was locks equal security, with an opening for interpretation the way it is now.  Still, the sample so far has seen locks with a few floppies thrown in.  SLight modify there is likely.  Other input will be considered.  Thanks.

It's like the curtain fell down as it opened around this new design on stage.  Double durp, but it's ok.  Some time tonight I'll throw the new one up there.

I'm a bulk buyer at $5/btc.

In our defense, it *IS* the newbie forum, so we have to post here, and extra posts can't hurt Wink

I like this better than the one in the OP, nothing small that's going to get overlooked or scrunched too far.

Really?  This isn't a logo contest.  When I have the new edit in, I'll re-post on a new thread so there's no confusion about this magical word logo.  This is no logo, it's a coin to be used by people who want a pretty bitcoin image to use when trying to spread the message on their website or wherever.

I'm going for mass market appeal, because that's what's going to make all you geeks who got in sub $1 rich, and that's what will make the world currency situation look more stable to my eyes.  We need mass participation, mass acceptance, the sooner, the better.

I like the cash for gold comment, as those companies are raking in massive profits and are hugely popular.  I'm speaking from a lot of experience with non-tech people and they like their currency to be shiny and pretty, not that brown thing, or the penguin I've seen around the net, or any other version I've seen if you "google image-search" 'bitcoin'.

This is open source currency and that goes for images that say "bitcoin" on them.  The real bitcoins aren't even visible except by skynet, so the masses will end up choosing whichever one they think looks best.

Since the internet is a place that resembles perfect liberty much more closely than the United Corporate Serfdom of America, free markets will thrive and popular opinion will still matter.  Yes, I'm saying you're all unpopular.
