They can be both hacked

I do not know how often you change your email but it's quite suspicious.

Please someone tag these possible hacked accounts:

What do you mean by "tag these people"?

You can report their posts to the Moderators yourself - just click the "Report to moderator" link in the lower right of any questionable post.

You can even give them negative trust, but giving someone negative trust because you don't like their post is abusing the trust system. Trust should only be used when you've had a transaction with someone.

Why do you need help from others here?

If it is a case of merit abuse, then it is default members who take action. The moderators or admins will get involved only when there is a merit source involved.

Lucky newbies or possible hackers?
latter.

It is and possibly, bunch of hacked accounts as well:

In regards to "merit abuse" (involving both accounts, exact similar behavior):

  • Recent merit transfers, are for older posts.
  • All of the merited users, have been inactive (in terms of posting) for quite some time.
  • Their last active time is "May 12, 2018" (merited users)

In regards to "possibly involving hacked accounts":

  • Both users, changed passwords after sending all of these merits (exact same behavior again):

Last merit sent by "toptek":
May 12, 2018, 10:54:17 AM: 10
Password:
Quote
May 12, 2018, 10:54:44 AM - toptek - password changed

Last merit sent by "Beachguy":
May 12, 2018, 10:16:53 AM: 13
Password:
Quote
May 12, 2018, 10:18:47 AM - Beachguy - password changed

OP, great catch but this thread belongs to "Reputation board" instead.

Same here.  Seems like there's also the possibility that these accounts have been bought, no?  Either way, based on the e-mail and password changes it appears there's some new skunks behind the wheel.  The merit sent, even if these weren't hacked or bought, is beyond excessive and probably constitutes merit abuse.  There are very few people handing out 20-50 merits for a single post these days, and my guess is that the people who do are either merit sources with a lot to give or people being paid to hand out that much.

I think other involved accounts (accounts that recently received merits), should be tagged as well:
- whoever that controls "Beachguy" and "toptek", most likely has access to other merited accounts as well (there's a pattern):

  • Recent merit transfers, are for older posts.
  • All of the merited users, have been inactive (in terms of posting) for quite some time.
  • Their last active time is "May 12, 2018" (merited users)

- I have a feeling that, those merited accounts will be used at some point in the future.

Ended up here following the Trust summary....um, guys I'm the victim here, I received an email saying my password and email were changed and if I didn't do it I should lock the account which I immediately did.
I had that account for many years and it was "legendary" status.
Trying to recover it through the bitCoinTalk mods was fruitless since over the years I lost track of the btc address i had used.....too many different wallets I suppose.
So I made a new account.
Pray it never happens to any of you.....and take steps to protect yourself from the mean, hateful people that seem to hang out here.

It's a shame, as the community manager of Spectrecoin...our old announcement thread, a new one was started, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2103301.0 remains open as I can't lock that.....and its become a troll magnet.
Tell me how does that help BitCoinTalk?

If you can't recover your account it is a very bad thing indeed to happen. Even if you see the trust summary in negative right now, if you prove your account is yours with legit proofs eventually you will get the trust cleared.

Please see my posts above....how do you guys expect anyone to respond when my account had its email address and password changed and i had "locked" the account in response to the email I received from BcT?
The negative trust things you posted were unwarranted and hurtful.
Account has remained locked as i'm unable to recover it.
Perhaps someone will give me some guidance?
I've had the same email since 2014 and can certainly prove that.
Thanks

Hi,

My account was flagged with negative rep with a link to this thread as a reference. I believe this is a mistake - my account has been active since May 21, 2013 and was not sold to scammers. I've been posting in the same threads for 6-7 years, you can check my account info and history to confirm that. If anyone has any information on what could have led up to my account being flagged then please let me know.

Thank you,
metacoin
