So I'm building a couple of mining rigs (probably 3 and, yes, I'm looking for investors) but I've got a question that came out of a discussion I had earlier today with a fellow Bitcoiner:

The Playstation 3 is a nice machine and has a decent GPU. I've heard rumors that there's mining software for it but I've not seen any yet. What do you think of using a few PS3's as rigs?

No, they won't be good enough. Do you really think that  PS3 which is like 4/5 years old could match up to even a 5770? It just won't he worth it unless you already have a bunch of PS3s lying around that are unused.

I was reading this thread a while ago where a few people have posted what they thinks possible with a PS3:

I suppose I was mostly thinking about using hardware I already own as opposed to going out and buying new gear. But it looks like what's needed isn't too heavy (CPU @ 2Ghz + 1 GB RAM) with all the concentration being on the GPU. So I should be able to put together a decent rig for well under $1K USD or right at it.  I was just feeling out the PS3 angle since I'd seen it discussed before here.

Registrera and logga in?!? What the hell can this possibly mean?!

I'm a Brit and I'm quite interested in joining this away from Deepbit. I'll have to translate of course, but other than that there shouldn't be any issues should there?
