I started with buying 0.1 Btc and doubled it by buying ltc Smiley
Unfortunately i have lost my profit with speculations..

By Mining WDC i gained 0.3 BTC for now.

At the moment I have an eye on NXT.

Not much about .24. I got it through trading litecoin into bitcoin. I started mining the litecoin shortly before the huge $50 bubble but only managed to get around 4.5 before Black Friday rolled around and the difficulty skyrocketed and the prices fell low.

made my first 0.001 today lol through a week of low powered gpu mining with middlecoin pool.

I can see enough potential in it though to consider splashing out on a decent gpu rig after christmas.

its funny -- people ask you this when you say you are interested in bitcoin, et al.
Its very rude.
I usually respond with: "How much money do you have in your bank account?"

for me the good question is not HOW MANY bitcoins you have but HOW MUCH DOES IT REPRESENT (in PERCENT) of your total investment portfolio.

It should be high enough to make a difference if bitcoins continues to go higher in the next 10 years but not too much either, so that you don't panic in every major pull-back.

Currently I have a Bitcoin position at arount 100 bp (bp = basis points, or 100 bp= 1%) of my Investment portfolio.

When a real ETF will be created, some big investors (Private Banking clients and the likes) will see bitcoins as a way to diversify part of their portfolio / uncorrelated asset (like Gold) and then you will see the real demand coming in  Shocked

Each coin is divided in to 8 decimal places so no, you don't have to buy a full coin. Lots of ways to buy small amounts, local bitcoins is a start....

Used to have 212.3 until someone stole my laptop  Sad.
Leason learned. You should be using cold storage for such an amount and if you want to have some to spend you should have created hot wallet with lets say 2 BTC on blockchain.info and put 210 BTC on paper where no one can steal your notebook or your private keys

Ouch, I can hear your pain, I sold my 1000 LTC for 4$ 1 hour before the breakout after holding for 5 months, but your story is worse. Still $22K not bad.
