Hi, this might be a newbie question. Sorry if it is. I am making my miner and i was wondering if i have a powered riser cable then do i need to connect the gpu to the psu as well? Won't this result in too much power going to the gpu? thanks
It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

You absolutely need to connect the powered riser AND the pci-e power plugs on top of the GPU to power supplies. Card won't work without power. You can't give something "too much power". The power needs to be available, the device will attempt to use as much as it needs. The power supply needs to be able to provide more than the card will need.

I think that is simple enough.
