API is back up but something a reddit user posted concerns me- "Interesting - their time & sales ticker still shows trades from when their exchange was down. Another sign that their volume is fake?"

HitBtc, can you speak to this? How can you possibly have time and sales for trades while the site and API were down. You also addressed others' concerns but suspiciously failed to address this one.

Why do you continue to dodge this one?

Dear Green2bit, AdamWhite and bernard75,

Thank you very much for your remark that we will now gladly address separately.

Our web and API components are independent, hence an outage of the website does not lead to a service disruption for API traders.
The API of your colleague-traders continued working without noticing any problems while a part of our web was interrupted by the technical outage.

As a part of our constant improvement process we undertake to investigate underlying problem and implement the discovered solution for all our users.

Best wishes,
The HitBTC Team

Still down - API too, so its not just the website. No response from support either which is worrying.

/Steve

Hmm, i couldnt connect to the API either.

It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.
Advertised sites are not endorsed by the Bitcoin Forum. They may be unsafe, untrustworthy, or illegal in your jurisdiction.

HitBtc,
The API was confirmed down by many users myself included.
Also, can you please elaborate on the nature of the issues you experienced.

Dear AdamWhite and bernard75,

Due to a hardware failure at our hoster’s facility (Velia) some components of our web and API were unavailable to our users.

In particular our system excluded the affected servers from our round-robin and these components were switched over to our back-up hoster (OVH). In turn, this change required the change of DNS records to be propagated for these specific services to the users originally connected to the Velia servers, which resulted in the web and API becoming unavailable for these specific users.

Once again we would like to avail ourselves of the opportunity to renew to you our apologies for the technical problems. We understand your worries and concerns and we would like to emphasize that we are fully open to you.

Best wishes,
The HitBTC Team

good to see you also making a little profit of running the exchange.
That´s a good sign in my eyes.

It is like the wild west in the movies, like russia in the 90ies.
It´s you, revolutionaries, scamers, gangsters, genuises, greedy soon-to-be loosers, billionares, and  big business at a global private party. It is bitcoin. http://nakamotoinstitute.org/mempool/dont-panic/
