I was introduced to this forum by a friend of mine a couple of months ago.  I joined it for gaining information about bitcoin and just weeks before I created this account and thought of starting to ask the questions related to bitcoin myself. I almost got answers to all my questions prior to the merit system but there were a lot of meaningless posts and I had to surf to pages and find the appropriate answer. But after this merit system, it has made it easier for people like me to get the perfect information or reply we need and also has opened gates to the people who actually are great posters and hold knowledge!
Merit system has been doing great in making the forum clean by removing most of the shitposters and forcing the ones who stay to make quality posts. Ranking up really is not a big deal unless a user has the sole purpose of earning from this forum!
If a user still has to rank up on this forum then I think the best ways for achieving it is that the reply must have considerably good English and should be on point. It should not be too fancy or lengthy as it is not considered as a quality post but a reply which is on point irrespective of its length is definitely a quality post!
Happy bittalking!

The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

I'm new here, so I didn't know the old system exactly but I agree, that a Merit System improves the writing quality. Shitposters won't be merited so they'll stop it. This is a great achievement but in the altcoin section there is still a lot of mess. I have no imagination how it must have been there before ^^

No, you are wrong, fella. Shit posters will keep doing this, because they have been still earn money from low-quality, bad-managed campaigns.

I don't remember exactly where I read the information, but Theymos, the forum admin, said that they have two possible plans for the newcomers of the forum:
He will give newcomers two options:
1) Only focus on earning money and stick on bounties boards. Choosing the one, newcomers have to be at least Junior members to post, and are now allowable to join serious boards after being Junior members.
2) Focus on getting information, and can post anywhere from Newbie.
Please remember that I don't remember exact information, so what I wrote maybe incorrect at some extents.

Notes:
I will edit my thread with original contents from Theymos thread when I found it later.

Maybe it will need some time to push out shitposters, but the point is, shitposters have no chance to be merited by writing ennoying one-liners and so all shitposters will never rank up. This is a big advantage for quality posters, because the members will bei divided into such, who aren't interested in a serious discussion and those, who bring quality on the forum.

I agree that some accounts never will stop shitposting, it would be far from reality if we think the Merit system stops all shitposts. But in a way it is very sucessful even if you remind you can detect alts by farming Merit. This is a great achievement so far.
