Will I need to buy 2 PSU to run 6 GPU's on one motherboard?

Adding some extra questions. Should I just go with 4 GPU's per mining rig or go with 6?

Well I was thinking of getting a 1600 Watt PSU or 2000 Watt PSU. I think 2,000 Watt will be a overkill.

According to this review, R9 290x uses an average of 246w = 1476w for 6 cards.
Max consumption could be 315w = 1890w for 6 cards.
Plus other system components, I would say get 2 PSUs.

First off, there's a huge difference from 280x and 290x in terms of wattage.

With 6x 280x's you'd probably need ~1800 watts of power. 4x = ~1200 watts.
With 6x 290x's you'd probably need ~2500 watts of power. 4x = ~1670 watts.

I'd go for 2 PSU's, it's always best to have room to spare instead of running on the edge.  Grin

@Electrolytez 750W should be enough to run a R9-280X

I saw 5x7950 uses 1600 watts power supply and he was using 1200 watts power supply before and it blowed his old power supply, I would suggest using two power supply for your case to save some expensive cost.
