I understand that the IPO may be launched soon.
I mainly use windows.
What software will I need to participate in the IPO?
Skycoin github software and a TOX client?
How soon is the IPO? Does anyone know?

I'm very interested in skycoin. The dev appears very impressive and if it is a scam, it's an incredibly long and elaborate scam haha.

Thanks for pointing it out.

I have some questions for skycoin :
  • How will the end users enter the "trust relationships" ? Via some UI ? I have not seen/read nothing about it.
  • Some trust relationships will have to be set for launch, otherwise a sybil attack would be trivial, will you allocate these on a stake basis ?
  • Will nodes generating blocks be rewarded somehow (like in PoS) ?
  • How does your system compare to DPOS (it also uses social trust through a voting system)

In Skycoin, malicious nodes can slow down or manipulate the consensus process but cannot revoke consensus of previous blocks (under most circumstances). A large enough group of influential and colluding nodes can completely control which blocks are accepted or rejected. The attacking nodes, however cannot revocate previous consensus decisions.

The consensus algorithm is based upon Ben-Ors randomized decision process over a Web of Trust (WoT) network. The nodes each node is subscribed to, represents the friends (personal contacts), peers and institutions (merchants, exchanges, websites, services) the user believes are trustworthy and reliable. Instead of spreading consensus across two or three mining pools which control 51% of the hash rate (three institutions), consensus is distributed across several dozen or several hundred of high influence nodes with network centrality which must be individually subverted or collude to influence the network.

This sounds like the Delegation of Bitshare's DPoS and the Ecomonic Clusters of Nxt. It is a kind of the Weak Subjectivity which was coined by Vitalik or the the Consensus in Vision which was coined by the Consensus Research Group

Not sure that is going to happen.

I'm more interested in the constant updates.  Keep them coming.  I have no problem waiting to invest.

This is a good coin, but if they want to raise, say one million BTC, do you want to participate too?

You are an idiot guy and know nothing, what you do is to buy many coins in IPO  then dump them when it hits exchange to make profit, you will have no contribution to this coin, if you participate in the IPO, it's not fair to the guys who do many things to this coin.

So as i understand Skycoin team trying to make a centralised coin (only for tech people), because its imposible for ordinary people to participate in ipo .

So I read the wp and I have 2 questions that I hope you can and will answer:

How will you ensure that a followee sends the same opinion to all it's followers ? The wp states that this is a property of the PBC but I can't seem to find an explanation of how that is achieved.

Also (this may be in the math which i didn't really look at much) the wp doesn't seem to say how consensus is actually reached. It only says that a node will form his opinion based on this own opinion and the opinions he get's from his followees but how exactly does that work ? What happens if a node receives different opinions ? Will it decide for the majority ? Is his own opinion more important the others' ?
