Are people still donating?

I read the response to this, that the last time it was updated was last year, and I think that's a good thing.  Bitcointalk doesn't need any more donations as far as I know, and I think such donations (10BTC, or even 1BTC) are a waste of money at this point.  That kind of money would be better spent as a donation to a hospital or an organization that does good for the community.  As much as I'm a fan of this forum, there's no way I could justify giving preference to it over a library, children's hospital, or a charity. 

Even though a lot of charities are corrupt at worst, and waste money at best, I think bitcointalk would probably just sit on the funds and NO good would come of it.  The "donator" tag doesn't impress me anyway.

You write a lot of sense. Having view the Donator status next to an avatar or username does not impress me either but it also does not take away from the fact they donated (albeit years ago) to support the forum.

So amusing to read posts from the beginning of bitcoin era. 10 BTC was nothing by then. I'm wondering if someone donated 10 BTC today, which was mined fresh, considering present day's difficulty?

Now donate 10 bitcoins in good condition. It is very interesting to read history and to represent those moments what they were in the past.

Really nice to see the list of people that really mad this forum going live, we couldn't survive without those early donators.

I think that the forum should be reopening the donation section, even without offering a special title, some people want to donate as a support to the forum and they can't.

the donate button is always open if people really wanted to support they can just send btc from the address mentioned on the donate button. if you check the address there are still people donating to the forum.

With 294 BTC already sitting there and with each Bitcoin costing around $9000, I think donations will be very limited.

I guess some top ICO’s could afford it for increasing their image, but on the other hand I think investors may not understand if such money would be spend for status on the forum.

I dont think they would literally require 10 btc to recognise a donator but also they dont want to devalue the previous donators contribution either as they certainly opted to donate 10 BTC not keep it till now with its higher value.
Companys contribute via paid advertising.  Its done via an auction I think

I think the amount one need to pay for Donator status should be reduce from 10BTC to maybe like 1BTC since the market value of Bitcoin at the moment is fa higher than what it was in 2011.

Read the posts in the previous pages. This suggestion was asked several times and nothing will change, 1BTC = 1 BTC and those who donated in the past have sent 1 BTC not the equivalent of it in USD so it isn't fair for them.
If you want to donate a small amount, you can buy a Copper Membership.

you dont need to donate like 10 or 50 btc you can donate whatever amount you want. bitcointalk can still live without ad revenues because they have 284 btc stashed.

Each round of ad sales are public and can be found in the Auctions section. Look through those threads if you're interested.

I have no idea why you've such a hard on about donations to the forum. You've been asking the same silly questions and making silly assertments in this thread for months.
