Yes 5 minutes is the best kind of heads up to stop malicious pool owners from dominating all the early coin as was seen with I0coin.
No warning means all the small and more agile miners can get a piece of the pie making it more fair. If you think 90% of the coins being generated going into the hands of 4 or 5 people is good or fair then we'll have to disagree.

Wouldn't the solution be to set the initial difficulty high?  As the difficulty falls (as solidcoin is deigned to do) pools and the rest will mine fairly.

I dont think yall missed much, the diff is only 450 right now.

But yeah that might have been better for most of you, to have a well known release date and a higher diff, but since I stumbled onto this thread moments after it was announced, I'm going to have to disagree with you anyways. Tongue

If you will notice the difficulty is rising quite fast! I dropped my full 60 GH/s farm on it four hours ago and I'm hitting 1-2 blocks per minute.
I'm not sure why anyone with more than two functioning brain cells that aren't fighting each other for survival would think the new difficulty calculations would protect from "Pump & Dump".

I fully intend on running it wide open till only a few of us are left, difficulty high and then shut it off. Let the difficulty drop rapidly and start over!

I'm loving the "New Fork of the Week" crypto currencies!

Well this will be a good experiment. Depends of course on difficulty and price. Will you keep mining if its less profitable than mining BTC?

I just thought. All the large miners and the pools could collude to shutdown at the sametime.

Yup, but still more decentralized than just having one huge pool leave and then a ripple effect.

The address is invalid it seems, so you may want to make a new one or verify you entered it correctly!

I've paid most of the bounties in this thread besides the ones that have no verification. If you want the bounty you need to show us!

http://solidcoin.info/bounties.php

If your name isn't on the bounties page it wasn't sent for these reasons.

Quick question.  Can a bitcoin private key be used to generate a Solidcoin address; are these addresses just a different first byte with the usual public key hash + error check code?
