Microsoft’s Search Engine Bing Says It Will Ban Crypto-Related Ads By July 2018

Microsoft-powered search engine Bing has joined other internet giants in announcing it will ban cryptocurrency-related advertisements on its network by July 2018, according to an official blog post today, May 15.

According to the statement, the main reason for the company’s decision to ban “advertising for cryptocurrency” and “cryptocurrency related products” is the current unregulated status of cryptocurrencies, which allegedly increases risk for Bing’s users:
“Because cryptocurrency and related products are not regulated, we have found them to present a possible elevated risk to our users with the potential for bad actors to participate in predatory behaviors, or otherwise scam consumers.”
As the report further says, Bing Ads tool plans to fully implement the ban worldwide between June until early July.
Bing’s crypto ads ban is the latest move in a search engine and social media crypto-boycott, initiated by Facebook in late January of this year. Google announced an analogous crypto ad ban in mid-March, and Twitter confirmed its own ban soon after.
Last week, multiple mainstream media outlets reported that Facebook is reportedly “exploring” the launch of its own cryptocurrency.
Earlier in April, the co-founder of LinkedIn told Cointelegraph that the recent crypto ad bans are, in his opinion, most likely “temporary” and due to the current absence of clear crypto market regulations.

All search engines and social networks seem to plan to ban the cryptocurrency ad. If something happens, some new alternatives to promote services related to this market should arise. It is important to note that this ban should be motivated by the immense amount of shitcoin and existing scam projects. But what will be more affecting is Bitcoin.

Just sad though that not only Bitcoin will be affected, but those legit and trusted ICO's project will be hit hard on this. Bitcoin can take it, but how about those ICO's who has good intentions and whose project is solid and trusted. And I'm not surprised to hear this from Microsoft though, since lately Bill Gates have been attacking Bitcoin as well. I'm pretty sure that there will be clever ideas that will come up to circumvent this so called bans from those social media giants. But then again, crypto is very resilient, we might be affected short term, but I don't think that they can simply stop this tsunami.

So Bill Gates still pulls strings in his organization, even after he announced that he would be concentrating on his charity foundation. People still have a choice to use much better search engines like Google & Yahoo and even Brave <where you earn bitcoins, whilst you are browsing>  Wink

I would much rather use, "DuckDuckGo or Yippy" in any way, because they are not used by Big Brother to spy on your internet use, like Bling is doing for MicroDicks.  Angry

All these prohibitions on the part of search engines and Facebook work in full only in the US and several other countries. In most countries, there are no such prohibitions.
This motivates cryptocurrency projects to come up with new methods to promote their projects.

It is their business and they should run it the way want, but they should know that if they do not, others search engine will promote it. They war against crypto-related activities is not working rather it is making is strong and popular indirectly.

No need to be surprised or sad about this. I think it's an excellent way to move forward in the coming years with scam ads gaining far less exposure. Just now while I am watching some crypto related videos on YouTube, I am forwarded an ad promising $4000 returns per day. Next ad advertises itself as being an opportunity allowing you to turn $250 in $11,000 in 1 week. This is the garbage we are getting rid of, so we should welcome this development since this is better for every crypto enthusiast. People are used to see everything that happens as negativity, but it really isn't in this case. Bitcoin doesn't need advertising, shitcoins and ICO's do.

Microsoft seems to be mirroring what Google is doing. In any case, Bing does not have a significant market share in the search engine space. I find it funny that they feel the need to ‘protect’ their users. They have no qualms about showing pe*is enlargement advertisements though.

Sad to say that Google has made this move as well. I have well remembered that a couple months back they were only banning ICOs with relation to Financial-Services, but as of right now they are planning to ban all kinds o ICOs even binary options advertisements. If we are talking about a big hit. this is one of the haymakers the cryptocurrency market will receive. With two big companies showing that they are ready to be strict on showing ads of ICOs, they are like saying that they want to stay out of any legal action when it comes to potential fraud coins, but generalizing them all is a really bad move. They should have made a screening process on their ads instead of doing this.
