Longterm: Peercoin (PPC)

It's the first PoS+PoW coin. Which makes it much more energy efficient and safer. Also the developer is still developing stuff for it, Sunny King he is called. It is pretty big already, and I think it has almost no chance of crashing at all, it can only raise (unless BTC and cryptocurrencies actually get banned in USA and more countries)

Shortterm: Any new coins that are on small exchanges now and will go to bigger exchanges.
Since you probably don't want to search for it.
I have found some coins I am investing in myself recently (also mining them) which are on small exchanges atm:

Foxcoin: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=420727.0
Nyancoin: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=402085.0
PXLcoin: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=418088.0

The chances that they will be on an exchange in order are:
Nyan>Fox>PXL

So ultimately, invest in Nyan if you don't want to invest in several coins. Be sure to buy at a low price and not just the first price you see.

First you have to buy BTC, it's the gateway coin. (sometimes LTC is needed)
Big exchanges:
Mt gox
Btc-e.com  ( I use this for big coins like Peercoin)

Big newer altcoin exchanges:
Cryptsy.com
Coinedup.com

Small exhanges:
https://www.coinmarket.io   This one is growing fast
www.atomic-trade.com
http://freshmarket.co.in

These are certainly not all exchanges, but just ones I know pretty well and I trust. The big exchanges are ofcourse better trusted. But I would trust the smaller ones with 2000 dollars or less.

most of them are long-term investments.

What is special on Vertecoin? Just dont know.

Foxcoin: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=420727.0
Nyancoin: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=402085.0
PXLcoin: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=418088.0

The chances that they will be on an exchange in order are:
Nyan>Fox>PXL

which exchanges will they end up?

or are they already on the some exchanges.

I think at first I should do some short-term investments, to get some more coins which I can than invest in long-term investments. since I like learning by doing. so it would be good if I got some coins to just trade to understand the market better.

Otherwise it would be just waiting and this could be boring.

So anything new, which comes to an exchange and has a chance of getting big or at least pumped, I would like to try this at first.

This enables me to distribute my coins more equally at the end.

thanks

Meow coin is good. bought for .3 btc meow coin. solte them for to little got only 200000 in. still quite good. Just shouldnt have sold them. but I am to new and not strong enough to be pationed.

Anyway. Is there any rule concerning when a coin hits the exchange not to buy it and wait a bit until the price drops to buy in and enjoy the upride?

I always see that new coins are really expensive at the first day. but not sure if i am right in this point?

thanks

I have noticed that most coins will skyrocket on the day or the day after they hit coinedup. Try to buy before that and sell it high. Or sell after it's down. Not sure if that's true by other exchanges, but that seems to be how coinedup works.

You have to search for a reasonable price before you buy. Try to find a collaboration between the total amount of coins of an altcoin and the value that it get's the first day on the exchange. This way you can calculate a reasonable price.

RonPaulCoin (RPC) may be worth investing in long term. It was made to be 10X as rare as bit coin so theoretically in the long run it should become worth more than BTC is. At the moment you can get one for around $40 USD. You can buy it on cryptsy or coinedup.

BTC may be worth investing in for the short term (a few weeks or so). I say this because there has been a lot of news of places like tigerdirect.com, overstock.com, hospitals, sports teams, and the like starting to accept it. It seems to have been a trend that a bunch of places started accepting it, or have unveiled support for it (like windows phone allowing an app in which you can buy BTC) in the past week or so. Wells Fargo is also hosting a conference on BTC coming up after meeting at a summit with government officials. What they announce at the conference could cause BTC to jump up in price... or drop down, but I suspect even if Wells Fargo speaks ill of bitcoin, the price won't drop too much because of all the other positive news for BTC may counteract it. So for now I am holding my BTC because I expect it to experience a rapid upward trend for the time being. And if I am wrong about that, chances are high that it will hover around the same price so I don't expect any major losses with it.

There is risk of people giving hints of not good coin but coin that they own and want to pump up.
You should verify any advice you get here.

Personally I recommend:
KDC, USDE (on exchange, some growth recently, solid devs, but unsure how much more growth in short term)
these may be good for long term (good potential), but for short term price may fall a bit (price up a bit last week, may approach local maximum)
short term - any new at least bit good coin not yet on exchange - SPICE or UFO coins may be worth considering.
very long term, low risk, not so high reward - BTC, just hold it.
