Hi bjorn,

I read this previous post in detail, I found I have the same keen interest as nick, especially on the Lowest USD Liquidity Offer and Price BTCUSD put on the same charts for comparision for which you made him.

http://www.bfxdata.com/graphLiquidityUSDPriceBTCUSDCombined.php

So I try my best to give you "a good reason (plus theory) to incorporate it to the main site" .

Strictly speaking, it appears seems no explicit "correlation" between these two graphs, but as you know it, market price movement always involves all factors no matter we know it or not, ie known/ hidden, explicit/implicit, prices itself already reflecting everything it should involve.

Price is king on the market , price patterns always gives you the  signals for buying/selling as well as swap offering/demanding.

So prices in essence are the fundamental basis of market behavior for both liquidity swap offerer and taker, if there are no prices movement, there are certainly no liquidity swap activities and all kinds of psychological conditions and decision making that are originated from the prices movement.

Though at first look it seems no explicit "correlation" between these two graphs , but nobody can absolutely say there are no any "correlation" between these two graphs, that "correlation" couldn't always reveal itself at any time and any place on the chart, but maybe appears at some special time or location on the chart and that all depends on your own judgement or anything you regard it as justifiable and reasonable.

On the uncertain market, to find the seemingly certain regular pattern or kind of  "correlation", don't you think that is really full of exploring fun for those who find it intriguing?

So if you can incorporate "Price BTCUSD" to the main site for option, me and somebody who really loves to explore mystery of chart's correlation would be find it conveniently for comparision.

What do you think?  bjorn.

Edit: I find another persuasive reason to incorporate market price to the main site, simply that is you can just quick look at the BTCUSD market price and Lowest USD Liquidity Offer at a time and which is not relate to other things such as whether there are any "correlation" or not , if this can easily been done, then why not?

Thanks for your thoughts!

I will be adding a page or two with combined charts. Personally I find myself looking at the total swap sums vs price quite a lot recently (even without a combined chart) The sum tells me a bit about the market sentiment. If the total USD sum rises a lot, traders feel bullish and it's a nice indicator of where the price will go for a while. The other way around if the sum of BTC / LTC swaps increases suddenly, traders are shorting and expect the prices to drop for a while. Please let me know what other combinations you all like to see.
I'll add Nick's and Tsay's request and also my sum vs price (probably combined with average rate as an option) idea.

What other charts / tables you all would like to see added? Let me know here and share your thoughts like Nick and Tsay on why it is useful. Good ideas will be rewarded with a nice chart Wink

regards Bjorn

Transactions must be included in a block to be properly completed. When you send a transaction, it is broadcast to miners. Miners can then optionally include it in their next blocks. Miners will be more inclined to include your transaction if it has a higher transaction fee.

Hi Bjorn,
I think the simplest way to incorporate PriceBTCUSD to the main graph is as following.
for your reference.

Hi Bjorn,
I think the simplest way to incorporate PriceBTCUSD to the main graph is as following.

I considered doing that, but decided to add separate pages instead. I think it gets a bit messy if I combine too many options in one graph and on one page. I even made this monstrosity...

Also, the more data I add to a chart, the longer it takes to load, I think people using slower connections or need to connect from China, like dahongfei, wouldn't be able to load all the charts anymore. So new pages was what I decided on.

The "Swaps + Price Charts" menu entries now show three charts to analyse Price and Swap statistics:
  • Price + lowest swap offer / highest swap demand
  • Price + Sum Active BTC / USD Swaps
  • Price + Average rate on Active BTC / USD Swaps (=ffr)

Hope you all find good use for the new pages.

Fully understanding what you plan to do, the new layout seems not bad.  Cheesy

For everyone visiting my site on their smartphone or tablet, I've made a mobile version of the site. Not all is converted yet, but most is there. Android users can also use the app from the Play Store I've published a couple of weeks before.

hi all,

little update:

Added FRR series to the last offer/demand Swap Charts, since Swap rates are heavely influanced by FRR rates.

Added a couple of proffit/loss calculators to the site. These calculators will help the Bitfinex traders to calculate profits or losses on long positions or short positions, for both BTC and LTC.
By specifying your current maker and taker fees, the number of coins and the price to open a position, the calculator outputs a 'Break Even Price' (the price to close the position without any profit/loss after paying fees) and tables displaying possible profits / losses when closing the position at a certain price. The trader can specify if he will do a market order (taker fee) or a limit order (maker fee) and these fees will be taken into account, according to the specified maker and taker fees.

  • Break Even Price: the price to close the position without profit/loss after paying opening and closing fees
  • Buy Amount (USD): the total USD amount to open the position (including the fees to open the position)
  • Buy Fee: the fees payed for opening the position
  • Sell @:   the price to close the position at
  • Price Diff.: the USD difference between the buy price and the sell price
  • Profit USD: the profit of the trade in USD after paying opening and closing fees
  • Profit %: the profit of the trade in percentage after paying opening and closing fees
  • Order Return: the total amount in USD returned to your account’s balance after closing the position
  • Sell Fee: the fees payed for closing the position

Hope you'll find the calculators useful. I've added a little "help section" (link next to the 'Caclulate' Button) to further explain how to use them and what formula I used. If anyone feels like doing some maths on their own and spots a flaw in my calculations please do let me know and I'll adjust it, if any.

Long calculator: http://www.bfxdata.com/bitfinexLongPositionCalculator.php
Short calculator: http://www.bfxdata.com/bitfinexShortPositionCalculator.php
(or just use the 'calculators' menu on the navigation bar.

Regards Bjorn

Nice tool.

How about tracking the icbit.se future price on the BTC/USD contract?  Or more specifically the market premium of the contract (eg. the contract price minus the current BTC/USD price).

I think the premium might be correlated with the USD swap rate.

A past flexible swap interest calculator would be nice.  What is the cumulative interest for a specified time period?   This is useful because the interest rate can spike - so averaging it out would be useful.

For instance, I'd like to be able to calculate what interest rate I earned since the beginning of the month.

you mean based on FRR for the last n days? so what was the FRR over de past n days and what was my return on Swaps @ frr for a given amount and specified period? interesting suggestion, quite a lot of coding I think Smiley

Hi Bjorn, would you please check out my idea for visualizing the swaps order book?

tl;dr: use a grid (days vs. rate), hue (offer vs. demand), transparency (amount), and interactions to aggregate across cells.

Thanks for an amazing site!

As far as money problems, why don't you ask bitfinex for money.  I mean they even reference you on their website.  Or why not ask them to host it? Smiley
