Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

Is there a slack, telegram, or discord for this coin?
Nothing like it.
This coin is gaining a lot of interest in Japan and I believe the Japanese will make it go where they brought NEM before.
Just have a look at their fiat exchanges for Mona:

https://fcce.jp/trade_mona_jpy
https://zaif.jp/trade_mona_jpy

Telegram is pretty active: https://t.me/monacoin

There is a Slack at https://monacoinusa.slack.com but it's not very active, however it did get the news about bitFlyer starting trading service for MONA-JPY on the same day (meanwhile on this forum thread that news came 4 days late). I can invite anyone who is interested, just DM/mention me on Twitter or send an email to monacoin at lae dot is. There's also a Japanese Slack (it doesn't need invite - however I removed the link because spammers were joining, 日本語を分かったら私にメッセージしてください).

Today:  In a significant move for Japanese cryptocurrency patriotism, exchange bitFlyer has added Monacoin (MONA) trading to its platform. The homegrown altcoin has a low-key but devoted following in Japan’s mining and online gaming community.

https://www.bitsonline.com/bitflyer-adds-monacoin/

It was also added recently to Japan's  Zaif exchange  https://zaif.jp/

its doing very well I hate when its called a pump but those are the two biggest reasons imo..  Japanese love the coin and are buying it up, the old supply and demand

Dude, no. How can you be this wrong here? Zaif was originally a MONA-BTC exchange called etwings since 2014 (renamed to Zaif in 2015 - https://corp.zaif.jp/info/1/). It's always had MONA since its inception and is currently the largest, in volume, exchange for MONA-JPY.

BitFlyer added MONA-JPY 10 days ago, on the 2nd of October. NOT TODAY. Official tweets below:

Thats what some people in Japan were saying to me plus its in that link I provided. Zaif was trading MONA-BTC for a long time then added MONA-JPY is the way I understood it. They also said it was on TV a couple of nights showing the coin and a land purchase with it. So it doesn't really matter to me which news service is correct about which exchange at what time fact is huge volume for a week or two and up from .44 USD to $4 last night.  Thanks for the info

* Trade Crypto using your card. https://cex.io/r/0/up111110556/0/ Zero commission SEPA withdrawals.
* Binance, probably the best exchnge - https://www.binance.com/en/register?ref=V5M916HV
* Bank of the blockchain era - Bankera  https://bankera.com/?ref=3781694901

There are some coins made by Japanese, but other than Monacoin is not popular.
And development of these coins is stopped.

I'm going to hold this for longer. I have a feeling the Japanese are going to take this much higher.

This is no ordinary pump, the volume is too large.  Top 5-10 coin by next week.  Smiley

This is great news. The coin deserves it. It has been a technology leader too (first to actviate segwit). Plus its not dependant on CHINA or USA government at all. I think this is one of the best coins to HODL, if the dev teams keeps doing a great job what I expect them to do, this can go to top5 and higher.

It was amazing to be part of Bitcointalk for a little while. Thankyou. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5316241.0

Nyancoin still with development.

Sakuracoin early fork of monacoin.

Both coins slowly rising in volume.....
