I have seen the that some account overtime have negative trusts and users are warned to be beware of such accounts. How can one therefore guide against having a negative trust on here?

Don't do anything that goes against the rules. I see you are a new member and in this case I suggest reading top 6 stickies on the meta board.

Well, since you are a newbie, I suggest you explore the forum for first few months.
Watch, read and engage. Improve your skills.
There are people including me learnt a lot (we are still learning) which we did not even have any clue! You can review one of my topic to see the things I have gained from BitcoinTalk and some others appreciations.
Self development and BitcoinTalk [Must read for new members]

PS: Remember, trusts are not moderated which means you have to deal with the persona personally if someone red trust you.

Don't copy from other sites without providing a credit and a link. I was going to give this guy a merit, until I checked his post.

It is said that common sense is the lest common of the senses, and I totally agree. Red trust is somehow personal, you can get it due to a misbehavior or a misunderstanding, but this is rare. Here in the forum, there is something truly important: to build your own image. You will see many respectable members with a big mouth and green trust, for they have earned the respect of the others.
So, earn the others respect by using common sense:
- Do not spam.
- Do not beg for anything (as merits, or any kind of recognition).
- Earn a place in here by making constructive topics, by informing yourself before even answering any question.
- Never copy-paste anything.
- Never ask for money or such.
- Never trade with merits or give merits to someone who doesn't deserve them, it doesn't matter if this person is your own mother.
- Do not reply a post with an unsubstantial line just because you want to increase your activity.

Just earn your place in here. Do not forget this place is about learning and discussing bitcoin and the blockchain technology. So avoid topics like "Are you fear of death?", or "Do you like the green color?" and crap like that.
Just use the less common of the senses and be aware of where you are.

This is the problem with the Trust system. The Trust system isn't to be used to grade people on their post content or quality. It's because of the thinking quoted that the Trust system has become abused and useless.

I have seen the that some account overtime have negative trusts and users are warned to be beware of such accounts. How can one therefore guide against having a negative trust on here?

The best way to guard against negative trust is to not engage in any business transactions with anyone on this forum!

But that may be a bit tough to do if you want to be active in such transactions here. So, if you must conduct transactions be very clear about the expectations of the transaction, use escrow for payments, and vet your business partners to make sure they have a good reputation.

The Trust system is abused on this forum. People use the Trust system as a weapon to penalize people they don't like, whether they've conducted a transaction with someone or not.

Case in point, at one time I wanted to get into the escrow services business. I started offering my services for free to try to build a reputation providing that service. The existing players in the escrow business on this forum started giving me negative trust because I was trying to compete with them. I never conducted a single transaction, especially not with these people, and they gave me negative trust. It's pitiful fucking behavior on their part!
