The Dow Jones industrial average finished the year up 26.5% and the S&P 500 gained 32.39% compared to 16.07% average daily return for Bitcoin. The 3-year average return for Bitcoin is 89,523% (268,568% total return). I don't know of an investment that has ever produced returns like this. So lets say 2014 is another huge year for bitcoin !! If this does happen and we have gains like we have seen last couple years bitcoin price would be over 4000$ per bitcoin by jan 1st 2015 ?? Look at oct 13 then Nov 13 lol insane !!! 211$ at Oct 1200$ at Nov, seems hard to believe that we would ever see growth like that again???

Its entirely possible. Once lots of Americans can invest in bitcoins via ETFs, there will be hundreds of millions of US$ entering the market, and only so many bitcoins to buy |

Still, don't be too fast to expect continued growth like this. To double the value of bitcoin at this moment you have to double the market cap which is currently over $10,000,000.-. Good luck with that.

Nope. Only a small fraction of coins are on sale at one time. Someone buying bitcoins doesn't have to pay all bitcoin owners  |

You are talking about economies that are worth trillions of dollars. Ten billion is nothing. Talk to me about the difficulty of the market cap doubling when it gets to one trillion. |

And his original statement about "doubling the value of bitcoin" is still nonsense. To double the market cap, you just have to have people buying bitcoins today for $2000 instead of $1000. Then "magically" the market cap doubles to 20 billion. |

The market cap will increase as more and more people jump on the bandwagon and big multi million dollar ETFs are launched. The real jump will happen when Bitcoin goes mainstream e.g. move away from the geeky elements and everyday people both understand and transact in Bitcoins in the high street.
