There are conversations going on about this in the slack and the skype chat. It appears it has to do with the massive amount of BTC transactions today and the recent BTC update. Possible solution is raising the miner fees, i am just getting back into the office so i am still collecting the information from the day and will share it here

The latest update is that, yes, this indeed appears to be related to the recent jump in unconfirmed (spammy) txes. Basically, once the mempool size reaches somewhere over 10,000 entries, the patched bitcoind we use starts to experience responsiveness issues with a specific API call, which causes counterwallet to fail to respond to user actions. We made some good headway here yesterday, and may have this issue fully resolved today. For more info on status, please see the following two issue reports:
