So I sent some of my BTC to Mt. Gox to sell. A couple blocks later, I sent some more to the same address. This was the first time I'd done this -- normally I use different addresses but I was late to work and didn't bother. Now it's been about 30 blocks and the first amount went through, but the second amount has not. I can verify with BlockExplorer that both are there. So...

Has anyone else had trouble with delays or money not showing up when using the same address more than once? Is it the sort of thing that just takes longer for Mt. Gox to process (if so, how long?).

I'm a bit bummed since I had planned on selling immediately and the price has dropped since then. It was a fairly large amount. Bah. Undecided

It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

I always send to the same MtGox address.

Yesterday is took about 8 hours for my deposit to show up.  Usually it's 1.5 hours.

Good to know it's not "lost" out there then... I sent a support ticket, and I suppose I will wait it out and know better for the future. They should add a notice that there may be delays. Roll Eyes Thanks!

I thought it wouldn't let you send twice to the same address?  I thought there was always a big warning "Do not send anything but this amount to this address," blah blah blah...  maybe I'm remembering a different BTC service though.

This is what it says:

Please be patient, it may take a few hours for the Bitcoin network to confirm the transaction.
Note: This address will change each time coins are received, but previous addresses can still be used to add more coins to your account.

why you selling on a low?

I have my reasons.

Mt. Gox allows you to use any of the disposable addresses they hand out, for as long as you like.
It's a very good safety mechanism

(and necessary if you want to mine & track stats on a pool like Eligius, where your BTC address is your username)

Though every time you receive funds, you will get a new address. You can keep using any of your older ones.

That would be TradeHill. Mtgox will give you a bitcoin address you can use once or use forever to send any amount to your account.

That also describes Tradehill since more than a month ago at least. (Your permanent deposit address is shown in your profile page).
