Seems to be the cheapest around, but everytime I try to sign up, it fails.

Yeah I just tried and it also failed.

Maybe Beta is optimistic. Seems they are in the Alpha stage.

USD$500 to try the service using the code "500BUILD", for that money you can put to work 12-16 cores for a month  depending on your configuration.

I selected an linux-ubuntu machine and installed CPUMINER.

The following is an example of the steps needed to mine MAGI (XGM), you can mine others coins just by changing the .git for the right one for your coin:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get install git screen automake build-essential libboost-all-dev libdb5.1-dev libdb5.1++-dev libminiupnpc-dev libcurl4-openssl-dev libgmp-dev

./autogen.sh

sudo cp minerd /usr/local/bin

then you can put a background process by calling:
nohup minerd -a m7mhash -s 4 -o stratum+tcp://mining.m-hash.com:3334 -u yourusername.yourworker -p yourpassword &
