This is the latest one bumped by the poxy newbie spammers.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1019752.0

Either ban the bumpers for  a week or so, or lock the threads. It is now well past a joke, and it is becoming really annoying.
A seven day posting ban would do wonders in my opinion.

I put him on ignore, but he probably doesn't give a stuff about that, or the forum and its members.

That's a good idea, though I'm not sure mods are meting out that kind of punishment for necrobumping.

I did report that bump when I saw it, and the post wasn't even on-topic.  And yeah, breaking two rules at once is a good indicator that this guy doesn't care about the forum--it looked like a bot, actually.

That thread probably does need to be locked, but I'd say a member like this would just find any of the hundreds of thousands of old, unlocked threads to post this garbage in, and locking them one at a time might not help much.
So are they doing it for account sales, or for junior rank sig spamming?
Or they could be doing it to be a nuisance, which I've seen a number of bots do.  I don't see how anyone could be gaining from this, and I would think they'd have to know these posts are going to get reported.

I am sure he doesn't even know (clueless) about the ignore list.

I mean look at his reply..

Reported that within a few minutes. What I don't understand is the fact it's off topic in that thread, and not a recently bumped thread. Looking at their post history tells me it's a bot, and a pretty shitty one at that.

So are they doing it for account sales, or for junior rank sig spamming?

I see he has got a neutral trust, would a red trust reduce the value of the account?

Here is another thread that needs to be locked.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2871345.0

Virtually every post is stating the you need 30 activity to become a junior, and the OP has already rankedup.

lol bumping an old thread with:

Quote
Can't speak on behalf of everyone but personally I use a bitcoin wallet. Easy, safe, and secure

This is clearly a bot or something, 7 day ban would be great as a warning, but with something so obviously stupid as this, I'd say a longer ban (or maybe permaban) would be more suitable. It's just ridiculous.

After checking his post history, he's mostly spewing up off-topic posts.

Need some spare btc for a new PC that can at least run Adobe Dreamweaver.

I wouldn't be so kind with a bot to start with a 7 day ban, why not to permaban these accounts?
If they are bumping for payment (I saw it somewhere in other threads), there should be no mercy...
When I go really mad about spammers I usually wish to restore newbie jail, lock all the topics at once and open up only those where normal users are posting quality content... but if only the newbie jail comes back, it could help a lot...

I don't think they are doing this for junior rank spamming. There's much more to this than what meets the eye. The number of bots are increasing, LoyceV has reported like 5000 bots in less than a week and they were only posting in the alternate cryptocurrencies section, there will be hundreds of thousands of accounts in off-topic section itself. Something more serious is coming down, and only theymos could figure out how.

I have seen mods locking topics in the main spam boards, if the bots post here, it'll be handled real easy. There's much moderation here than that in the spam boards.
