Altcoin Address Prefixes

I would like to port the https://github.com/bitcoinjs/bitcoinjs-lib to other coins.
Namely:
    litecoin
    namecoin
    peercoin
   

What do I need to know?

Are you looking for the letter prefix for example 1 for bitcoin and L for litecoin or are you looking for the version byte?
