Maybe the bitstream is defect? On my Ztex boards there is a jumper to get them to default factory settings. Maybe you just need to reset the board.
One thing could be a faulty powersupply?

On x6500 you need to load the bitstream everytime you power cycle the device, so it can't be the bitstream.
I already tested an other power supply..

BTW how are your heatsinks attached to the FPGA chips? Are you using the stock setup with thermal tape or did you due thermal epoxy?
I would touch the heatsink of the non-working FPGA and see if its getting warm / more importantly check to see if it's loose.

Hi !
I'm using the sock heat sinks.
The non working FPGA is getting warm, yes, the working one is really hot like it used to be, but the non functioning one is just getting hand warm.
It's not loose though..
It still has the error "More than 99 JTAG devices on chain... " wtf ?!
I had no reply from fizzisist for few days.. messaged him privately..

I would give him a bit more time to get back to you. But in the meanwhile, I would identify the problematic FPGA and remove the stock heat sink. Check the chip to see if there are any bubble / deformities and if it is clear of them, clean the chip off with a small amount of rubbing alcohol. You can at this point replace the thermal tape on the heat sink (just make sure you clean the base of the heat sink thoroughly).
If the chip has bubbles / is warped / cracked, then you are likely out of luck. Best of luck to you and I hope its just some bad thermal tape.

Dear FPGA Mining customers,
Unfortunately, demand for FPGA miners has been too low in recent months to justify continuing to produce new X6500s. For the foreseeable future, FPGA Mining will be suspending operations. It's sad to step away from such an exciting and interesting project, but the time has come.

Hi ocminer, Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. It's not clear what's going on with your FPGA to cause this. "More than 99 devices..." sounds like the TDO line is stuck high, so the computer is reading in 11111111... when detecting the number of devices in the JTAG chain. The first thing you need to check is whether power is present. If you have access to a voltage meter, you can probe the sides of the large electrolytic capacitors to check that the supply voltages for the FPGAs are being produced. It sounds like FPGA0 is working fine, so you should probe C58. This should read 1.2V (VCCINT for FPGA1). After checking that, we can think about other possibilities. |
