- NameCoin
- SolidCoin

That and my hopes up.

If we have enough votes (to be taken seriously), I'm going to send a link of this topic to TradeHill, MtGox and any major exchange available.

Didn't want to mislead anyone but I think:

I you read the topic title and your heartbeat goes up, you should vote "yes".
If it doesn't, vote "no".

If your heartbeat stopped, I hope someone is around who knows how to administer CPR or to call 911 (or 112)...

I voted no because we need to focus on getting Bitcoin accepted as a legitimate currency among vendors.  The last thing we need  is the market flooded with "alt" currencies and make it even more confusing for mainstream vendors to pick which one to adopt.  Or worse yet, force them into adopting multiple different currencies.

I don't think it's confusing. People know the difference between "Dollars", "Euro's" and "Svenska Kronor" Smiley

Let's let these new currencies establish themselves first then when it is time they will be added for trading on those exchanges.

Until then let's just enjoy the mining and profit =) Grin

It's going to take more than just mining to make any of these currency's viable alternatives to Bitcoin. We have to be very realistic with ourselves and understand that it is going to take much work and perseverance to make any secondary block chain a viable alternative. We don't do ourselves any favors by pretending that everything will just happen on it's own. There needs to be a community effort, and all Bitcoin related technology's.

I think it would add some competition between Bitcoin and the new currencies.

People are trying start new blockchains with improvements (or at least changes  Grin) and new features.
To keep up, Bitcoin has to be improved and that's the strenght of competition, I think.

If Samsung, Apple and the others didn't have competition, the iPad (or any other pad) would look like a brick with a shiny piece of glass glued to it.

Lets hope those new *coins help the BTC developers to get off their asses and get this show rolling again. BTC needs some updates and "new" features so it can actually be used by more serious businesses. Smiley

Lol, alternative blockchains are fun to make some quick proffit, but to take any next scamcoin seriously on any big bitcoin exchange will only hurt the image of bitcoin in the end i think.

Right. I only consider these new currencies experiments or what-if scenarios.

It is healthy for the overall movement.

I'd like to see namecoin traded against a (non digital) currency.
I think it's a great idea that really needs to take off.
The other coins I think are fine behind the bitcoin (gold) standard.
