Yes we want massive adoption because we all wanted that bitcoin would grow and develop, its price as well but it doesn't mean that other currencies would lose its value that could make governments to get panic from it and make bitcoins and other currencies on their control.Digital currency was just another option to make our work easier  and fast.Theres a choice of its user where to prefer to use fiat or digital currency.

If I understand you well;. You think cryptocurrency shouldn't be used/ adopted as a means of payment system because the government might end up centralizing it. Well, a lot of people are making money on cryptocurrency; especially on new coins that are entering the market and forgets the purpose of why cryptos was created for. If  the government will accept cryptos to be used with regulations then it will be a good thing.

I agree. In order for something to mature, it must conform with the establishment. That is exactly what Bitcoin will have to do to be accepted. But doing this will jeopardize the philosophical principles that led to Bitcoin in the first place. It just depends on how this takes place. If it becomes little more than a digital form of fiat currency, then there isn't much unique value being provided. I think of the major selling points of Bitcoin as being decentralized and free from the manipulations that fiat currency is subject to. Maybe other people appreciate Bitcoin for other reasons and don't mind these things. But I would think that with these things, there would be less value in Bitcoin and its being subject to (possibly quite arbitrary) manipulations would make it of even less value.

People nowadays need to learn how to adopt every moment and situation. So they will be knowledgeable and they able to move and to decide what they will do.  Adoption is when you  decide to adopt what really hurt you and make difficult

The global economy is moving forward to more decentralization. It`s not about cryptocurrencies and blockchain. All the technological progress will lead to more decentralization. You are overestimating the power of all the governments. If all the crypto exchange platforms become "slaves" of the fiat money system,we will leave them and trade cryptos without their help.

I would aggregate as much several cryptocurrencies as I can for now, because I believe that in near future all of that will have a huge demand.

We dont want to adopt it really but its like getting struck to the asteroid in the space and thus we have no were to go but land over it and take the most difficult ride around!

Now its difficult because at one site government is continuously thinking whether they should acquire the blockchain control and make very single crypto currency centralised or whether the should let go things as it is and just tax the dam project! Now that could be bumpy ride.

But for investors they just thinking it in the perspective of profiting themselves and they want this industry to run the way it is now as it is the only beneficial route for them.

Still there is no significant adoption of the crypto currencies from the people which can stand against the banks and governments. And payment mode in adoption is a good beginning to the crypto payments but I still dubt that people will spend their crypto currencies to buy something.Because we most of them consider bitcoin as an asset.

So far the world of cryptos is still young, there are still many people who ignore its presence. And the government is a contributing factor to the increase and decrease of cryptocurrency users. If the government adopts cryptocurrency and blockchain it will be a lot of users coming, so the cryptocurrency world has a great power to fight that does not accept cryptocurrency. I guess government adoption is very necessary to add the world user cryptocurrency.

If the way to control them is through regulations but so be it. However, it doesn't mean its centralizes. That's why government is issuing their crypto back coins, now that is what you call centralizations. They can regulate it, put taxes but I don't think that they can have total control of crypto. Adoption means many people are using it, and I don't see any problem with that. And we already proven that banks and government cannot stop crypto, even it they ban it, crypto will still thrive somewhere else.

Satoshi's vision was to create a platform of P2P sending money without banks. But already it was lost since people nowadays use bitcoin mainly as a digital asset of giving very high returns. When the government starts regulating bitcoin,it would only help mass adoption to occur as we already saw in japan, regulation lead to mass adoption of bitcoin.

What is the point of having bitcoin at all, if nobody uses it? If adoption isn't what we want, then are we just going to keep bitcoin something of a private project and not let anyone in at all? If so, what good is it going to do on a large scale at all?

I really don't see how more adoption means that it'll be easier for governments to control bitcoin in a central manner, in fact, it's probably the exact opposite.

Also, bitcoin's network itself is decentralized, the way that transactions are made are decentralized, and always will be, regardless of whether or not adoption goes up in the future. Government regulations only affect bitcoin businesses. They may control these businesses centrally, but they are not able to control bitcoin centrally. Hopefully that makes sense for you.

More adoption means more economic activity will pass on to the Bitcoin network. This is a big advantage in itself because then the governments world over cannot afford to ignore it.

Adoption will also make it possible for people living in countries with low opportunity to be able to sell services in lieu of bitcoin and then use it to build a better life for themselves in their home countries. This will in fact help in solving the immigration issues too.

So Yes, Adoption is what we all should REALLY want!

Exactly, each of us should create their own coins, in secret, with a private chain and should not trade or sell of buy stuff with them at all.
The price is going to be whatever we want it to be so ...we're all going to be rich beyond our wildest dreams..in our dreams.

If bitcoin can be centralized than it has failed already.
Besides, the biggest bull run happened after Japan declared Bitcoin as a legal payment method.
Take that out and we might go back to 3000$ or 1000$. Is that what you want?

Please, what exactly of Satoshi's notion have we actually lost with respect to Bitcoin vision?. Anyway, I feel the world is still growing towards accepting Bitcoin in the various economies, because most of them are just seeing the benefits that shall be accrued from Bitcoin as an economy when adopted, following the advanced economies like Switzerland and China, parts of the Crpto leading Countries in the world with recorded opportunities aside threats. This behooves a lot of possibilities achieving Satoshi's vission for Bitcoin as a generally accepted on line virtual currency at the long run. However, Bitcoin's adoption shall pave a big way of outstanding benefits for all its users since Big companies, Cooperate bodies, parastatals and the economy wealthy individuals shall be investing into Bitcoin which shall however raised its volatility to Boom and however becomes the real golden virtual currency as store of value because of its adoption.

We won't be able to become big and to actually make a big change in the society and in the economics section without a large adoption from the community.
Bitcoin is a kind of experiment and if it won't be able to stand against the regulators and governments that may stop it from existence ( they literally can't do that, but they may attempt to prevent people from using cryptocurrencies by blocking the connection of bitcoin and fiat),  then bitcoin doesn't have any place in this world because it's not truly decentralized.

You do not really explain how adoption will lead to centralization, would you care to explain it? Because I do not see it, if big businesses and governments decide to adopt cryptocurrencies that doesn't mean that they're going to control it, it is obvious that they are going to become big actors in the market of cryptocurrencies because they have a lot of money but we already have actors like that in the form of whales.

this topic doesn't make any sense.
and the hypothetical scenario OP is talking about has not been so much hypothetical for a long time now. the adoption has been happening. and you can see there are some who are scared of it, there are some who are attacking bitcoin but the majority are accepting bitcoin and adopting it.
for example you can see JP Morgan which has been the most vocal of all and is a bank who has been talking against bitcoin is one of the biggest investors in bitcoin and has plans on running a cryptocurrency bank soon.
