------------------------------------o------------------------------------

Again, kudos to everyone involved here, and best wishes to everyone who continues to give Noblecoin a life of its own that knows no limits.

Thanks for one of the best posts I've read in this thread for a while (nothing against the useful discussion on the wallet ofcourse!). Great to have someone like you on board.

Are you already in the Slack group?

+1

Thank you sir, you make me blush.

I agree with everything that you say and agree that we should have a push to improve the wallet design.

I am away for nearly 3 weeks now, but when I get back I def want to push this forwards.

Well, you all justly deserve every bit of praise that anyone has to give you. You've earned it!

However, as you know, and like the old saying goes, you're only as good as your last trade/line coded/contribution made/etc.  Wink

The last thing a winner does is rest on his/her laurels. Got to keep things moving, and best to do so by building on the successful momentum already set in motion and it certainly seems like basic wallet improvements are a natural at this time. Continual product development, even if it's only minor at times, also keeps everyone sharp.

Glad to see that you agree, even though, based on what we've seen, I never really doubted that.  Smiley

Cheers.

I would recommend joining the slack group. We are still quite small (shouldnt take too much time to read) on there and it is easy to keep track of some stuff that doesnt find its way to these boards.

Exclusivity kind of goes against my principles. I'm an Open Source "militant", and where that is combined with the effort to develop something that is widely distributed and decentralized, I'm even more radical. It seems to me that the Slack group effort runs counter to all that. I would not want to do anything that undermines the positive developments seen here over the first half of this year and the consequent foundation that has been set for a self-sustaining tradition to be built upon; quite the contrary, as I would recommend that everyone do everything they can to keep that great example of successful Open Source collaboration “up front, and center”, to begin with, by keeping the ethic alive.

It is not meant to be private information, just a source for the people that are demanding more updates at times. The info there is open, however, since Rofo doesn't use the forums as much as before, Slack is now the best source of information.

Maybe I phrased it wrongly, sorry Wink

No, I don't think you phrased it wrongly - I understand you anyway. It's just that I don't think it's suitable for me, or for the furthering of the building of a wider audience (that is if Slack is being proposed as an alternative to this board instead of an additional specific and detailed product development communication channel as it was designed to be).

I don't want to come off as stubborn or as predisposedly standoffish with regards to Slack, but, and at the risk of being seen as such, I do want to continue to argue my point. Perhaps I am not doing my best at explaining my point of view.

I think that Slack is a good idea for internal communications between key team members as they hash out the “nuts and bolts” of whatever task they may be dealing with at any given time, but I don't think it should come at the expense of wide scale dissemination of information. Every form of communication has its place, without a doubt, but when the primary objective is to achieve a widely distributed, decentralized, network and mainstream adoption, I think a priority should be given to the types of communication that reach the largest audiences, especially when dealing with aspects of the product that are common to all users (i.e. wallets, for example). Now, the actual coding being done would be something that I would consider perfect for Slack (github also functions marvelously in this regard), but as for the wider scale decision making, implementation and documentation, I think the wider community forum is a much better place for communication. There's obviously a balance to be sought after, but I think the drawbacks to the goal of building an ever larger and more stable community incurred by any narrowing of communication channels should always be kept in mind, and when in doubt, the subject at hand should be placed before the community at large.

On a more personal level, not being a coder, nor marketing specialist, etc., I don't think I have anything to contribute on a more specific level and that wouldn't be entirely appropriate here to begin with. I imagine that 99% of Noblecoin holders would say the same. Could you imagine just how cluttered the Slack group would become if everyone was forced to look for updates there? That would be extremely counterproductive for those serious devs actually working on the details. I don't see one as excluding the other, but I do see both suffering greatly if they are not used for the specific communication purposes they are each designed for.

I'm not sure if this helps any more than what I've already said, but without denigrating Slack, I think this forum still has its place, and that “place” is where the vast majority of holders get their primary and fundamental information. Of course, this is not to even mention the exposure Noblecoin gets with this thread, and that neglect of this thread, an underestimation of its worth, would also be extremely detrimental to Noblecoin's health, but that's another subject for another day.

I argue for both means of communication, not one at the expense of the other, and both appropriately used for what they were designed for. Recognizing that 99% of users are not going to be participating in specific product development, but that they do want to be apprised of what's going on and do want to take part in major decision making (think about it from the point of view of the difference between stockholders at the company's annual meeting and the developers actually working on the products on a day-to-day basis), I think that this double pronged approach, both channels used appropriately, is a win-win proposal for everyone. Again, what I think should be avoided is anything that is not a win-win double positive.

Has this helped to better explain my thinking on this?

Perhaps I'm wrong, of course, and I am open to hearing about the error in my ways. Wink

I never expected NOBL to get into this position but the sad part about digital currencies at this stage is that it does favor the low supply coins even ones that have nothing going for them besides easy manipulation, however as the industry grows I truly believe higher supply coins that have good use will benefit.

@eagleflies and joelao95,
On top of your technical skills and knowledge that you clearly demonstrated in the pioneering and completely successful switch of Noblecoin from POW to PoS-II, the professionalism shown in your documentation along with its timely dissemination, your open discussions about the various ways of moving forward and then the same with the actual implementation of the agreed upon options, and your almost immediate and impeccable responses to possible issues, make both of you a couple of the best examples we have for how the Open Source world ideally functions. My hat’s off to you both. I don’t think it would have been possible to ask for anything better with the switch, and, if I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes, I’d have said it was impossible. Fantastic work! I hope we see you doing more of the same in the future, helping to make Noblecoin the best it can be.

[..]

Thank you sir. We did our best to address inflation pressure.

+1.

I have joined Slack but am not a big fan of it. In my view Slack is just IRC with history. However it has number of cons:

- our IRC channel is well known and people used it for months. Why change it for similar yet less known medium?
- you have to register to use Slack. no need to do it on IRC
- most altcoins have their IRC channels and this is standard way to talk to people interested in specific coin
- this is just personal preference - you need to use browser to access slack. I do not like the idea of having to open slack website every day to check if there was any discussion there

If we need history we could just setup irc bot to register what was said on IRC and publish it on some website.

There were not many places in history where coins with higher supply (inflation) were considered better than coins with lower inflation. Most economists think inflation of 2-3% is preferred. From this point of view Noblecoin's money supply of 8% per year is way too high Wink

If you like high inflation please read something about current situation in Argentina.

Having said that I like some high PoS coins but Noblecoin was never meant to head in this direction.

To get into what position?  AFAIK  NOBL is doing nicely for being a sensible, long-horizon coin without any "lotto game"  gimmicks with destructive inflationary PoS rates.  The only reason those coins with those ridiculously high rates don't fall to rock bottom is that the devs / bagholders HODL and don't put the huge stakes they make on exchanges, because the game of baiting noobs into buying and supporting the price would be over right away and they know that.

They are all waiting for their moment to catch the surge when their coin gets a visit from a pump group,  to drop the giant stake bomb they have been collecting.
You buy into them, you better realize you are gambling with being remote-nuked by them for any reason at any moment, just when things start looking really solid.

This is not possible with NOBL, because of the mature and realistic (and still chain-securing) PoS rate it has.

Incidentally I notice a definite buy trend lately, I thought NOBL would be lingering at 5-6-7,  it's instead slowly ramping up through 8-9-10,  I would not be surprised if it finds a floor in double digits again soon.

Dear all, I'm having an issue with NOBL at Cryptsy for 1 month already and it's getting worse day by day. Ticket 187017 at Cryptsy's freshdesk. Coins disappear off my balance by tiny portions every day without my confirmation/notification. Cryptsy was notified immediately, but done nothing. Once my positive balance on NOBL reached zero, that didn't stop and I started having negative balance.

Besides submitting ticket on May 20 and 23 I also notified admins in Cryptsy's chat about negative balance and my problem - in 20 minutes my NOBL balance was positive (not fully restored though). That allowed me to do some withdrawals to save some coins. But with every next day coins continued disappearing off NOBL balance. With negative balance on any coin at Cryptsy I can't make any withdrawal/transfer and now I can't even leave messages in chat. It's like I owe to Cryptsy and my debt increases every day. Can you imagine having negative balance on any exchange?

Address is 9b7cvdbs58t4dy42Gnx6uTgozpDsWH5SBC, problem can be tracked since May 19th. After 3 weeks of having this issue Cryptsy's support posted new status to my ticket - "wallet/network fix". At the same time NOBL wallet status at Cryptsy is shown with blue color and actual block is the same as on the block explorer. Other exchanges trade as usual and no one reported of this problem so far. I suspect Cryptsy is having trouble with their database, but they did nothing to stop my problem at the start.

Negative balance today is -1844197.55 NOBL, but total loss is much more.

You have to get on them in the chat box and just stay in front of them.  Especially Mullick and Horus.  They will get you sorted out, just don't come across as an angry neckbeard and get whiny, or the room will turn against you very quick.

Just be persistent and make sure you talk to admins not chat mods, those guys can't help you, only admins can.

The address you gave us shows a current positive balance of 1,259,081.37671956.   Huh  Huh  Huh
https://chainz.cryptoid.info/nobl/address.dws?9b7cvdbs58t4dy42Gnx6uTgozpDsWH5SBC.htm

Sorry I don't have more time to look at this further, but the transaction history also looks normal. I don't know exactly how Cryptsy handles balances when blocks are staking though . . .

I've also sent a PM to Mullick, so hopefully we'll have his input as well.

Cheers.

http://prntscr.com/7ipyp9 - negative balance shown at Cryptsy for mentioned address.
http://prntscr.com/7ipz2z - Withdrawals section at Cryptsy, showing recent withdrawals (total 84 unauthorized withdrawals since May 18th reaching 6.007.985 NOBL).
http://prntscr.com/7iq2su - Deposits section at Cryptsy, showing that staked coins not returned.

Seems like coins are sent for staking, but never return to my balance. And negative balance is allowed(((

@mikeymillie: I can afford a little whining after month of no solution. Now I ask my friend to post my messages in Cryptsy's chat, because with negative balance I'm not allowed to do that by myself.
Cryptsy was my first exchange (like first love), I'm a verified member, recommend it to friends... and for past month it has been slowly sawing me off with a saw.

Anyway thanks to all for fast reply!

@unklo, I don't know, it affected only the coins not placed to sell orders.

Let's take recent TX - 39a06b800323dae9cf4448404eb56a58645c91d9a7bb467eca561db896fe3ba1. It's shown as staking, 24,370 coins staked, 24,385 returned. But I've received 0 at Cryptsy. And this story is going on for a month already - https://cryptsy.freshdesk.com/support/tickets/187017
