Spring Staking Promotion - Update - day 7

1. Staking ratio and difficulty
Staking Coins for the last 1000 Blocks: 19.2%
Difficulty is at 3.65 right now.

2. Rewards paid so far
We had first payout of 100 000 NOBLE which happens about every 11 days. Wink Congratulations!
https://chainz.cryptoid.info/nobl/block.dws?380052

100000 NOBLE: 1 time
10000 NOBLE: 6 times
1000 NOBLE: 61 times
100 NOBLE: 608 times

3. Upcoming high payouts
100 000 NOBLE at block 390 000 which will happen in about 8 days
10 000 NOBLE at block 382 000 which will happen today

4. Reward for block 400 000
I am leaning towards 500 000 or 1 000 000. Any comments or preferences?

5. Remaining balance
2 721 243 NOBLE

That is great, I think I have collected at least one Smiley

I think for 400,000 we do 0.5m as that will still leave some for another big one.

I'll send the community funds over now, as this is a really good use for them.

Have we noticed an increase in staking?

Edit: I'll send the coins over once my wallet has stopped staking them so I can get them back! I'll round it up to 750,000 as I can't remember exactly how many there were.

there is for sure for user friendlyness a POS change wanted
but just a small one

rewards should decrease to zero if u didnt stake for to long
but still  correct sized coin pile (non dust) should have some kind of mnimum chance to mint a block and reset coin age

a well done POS coin need no micromanagement by users and im sure NOBLE can reach that state too

i think that code adaption shouldnt be that difficult and eagle should be able to handle it
afaik he have access to joe too who created the original POD code thats used in NOBLE so together sure not big task

There is a bounty #9 already for such a change with no backers https://github.com/eagleflies/noblecoin/wiki/Bounties

make block 200000 POS promo bonus just 200k and use 800k as bounty for that feature

this serve us longterm much better than the POS promo

Last week I downloaded and installed Noblecoin wallet v2.0.4.0 on a pc that stakes other wallets and have not been able to get any connections.
Does it require nodes in a conf file?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I don't even have a conf file and never had any connectivity issues. However, try adding these to a conf file and see if it helps:

195.154.111.118
5.9.20.83
149.202.121.129
5.39.80.7
178.33.209.212

Good luck!

I ve never had any problem with connections. what your describing suggests to me its being blocked by firewall or virus program maybe. Other than that try to save your wallet .dat delete everything reinstall. let us know if any or this helped. Fish

i don t suggest doing that
its valid addresses and valid coin in there

everything else about the troubles who owns them and who can access them
is not business of coin devs

DMD Diamond too have 1% of total coins at cryptsy cold wallet
but we would never ever consider declare them invalid coins

the blockchain is the enviroment the tool
but not the judge to decide what are good or bad coins
just what coins are valid and what transactions are valid

and from that perspective the mintpal and cryptsy coins are valid created and valid transfered

that they now stuck in limbo with unclear state who have access to the wallet private keys
is not a issue that is business of wallet devs

I knew you guys would say that and I agree to a certain extent. It sucks that we will never have a accurate count of whats even possible to be out there as far as coins. Every time a new person comes around they see these enormous numbers of coins in circulation which is not even close to true.  Also there is a possibility of that wallet which belongs to the users of Cryptsy. not Paul or whoever has control over it comes alive and destroys the hard work and BTC we put into this project at that point its all of our problem. Just figured Id put it out there. Fish

It is difficult to say what will happen to Noblecoin's wallet at cryptsy. Last thing I read stated company was put into receivership and currently court controls it. It is possible court-appointed monitor will find altcoin wallets and at some point in the future coins will be returned to their owners.

Cryptsy's webpage and wiki are not reachable now, while blog still works.

make block 200000 POS promo bonus just 200k and use 800k as bounty for that feature

this serve us longterm much better than the POS promo

1 mln coins was donated for the purpose of POS promotion. Hence I am going to use it for that. We can only discuss how to spend it e.g. use more for 400 000 block's reward, or spend more for long term smaller rewards.

I understand you are saying money from community funds could be used for bounty #9? According to James this fund holds about 700k NOBLE.

Would anyone else voice their opinion how big the reward for block 400 000th should be?
So far we have two proposals:
500k - 2 votes
200k - 1 vote

PoW is dead or dying,
Combined the top 3 Chinese BTC Pools and they are over 60% ,
So they can 51% BTC any blasted time they feel like it and you PoW supporters can't stop them.
Proof of Stake is the Future , either Hop on or get the hell out of the way because it is a train that can not be stopped.

Could you kindly tell us what prevents exchanges from staking your PoS coins?

I may be wrong but I think at some point Cryptsy was staking Noblecoin's. Maybe not on all their addresses but they wanted to make another revenue stream. Which is perfectly valid IMO since this helps securing network.

Increase in staking - before promotion about 16% coins were being staked. Then it went up to 19%. Right now it is back at 16.6%.

Increase in difficulty - before promotion the medium average on diff chart was around 2.50. Then it went up and right now is somewhere between 3-4 so there is improvement on this front. Please take a look at chart https://chainz.cryptoid.info/nobl/#@diff

Why don't they just move the coins?  I don't think this is worth a hard fork..  Either they don't care about supporting the network or increasing their stash by staking, otherwise they would of moved their coins already. Or am I missing something completely?

No, you're right. Everyone in such a situation can "fix" his/her wallet by moving coins. But some people complain about it.

IMOGO (In My Old Geezer Opinion), just pure Lazy complainers.
Do they want the coin to breathe for them too?

Old Saying: Use it or Lose it.

 Cool

FYI:
Back in my day , we used to have to haul the crypto coins 40 miles UP HILL BOTH WAYS to complete Transactions.  Cheesy

Now the pozers are too lazy to click a button.  Tongue
