More seriously: they appear to have managed to dig up the kind of information about Bruce Wagner that has been desperately needed for months. They might even end up saving Bitcoins, or at least killing them to save them. If someone had found this earlier it would've saved a lot of trouble...

(and no, it's not because I lack a credit card, it's because it's easy to write Bitcoins off as imaginary money to spend them on silly shit)

Problem is I'm not sure I'd trust any goons to not just take the payment and then delete their wallet for other goons' enjoyment at my expense.

I love how many of the most prolific bitcoin backers, who one would think support free speech, call anyone who disagrees with them some combination of a 13-year-old child, an idiot, or a troll.  It's the perfect way to shut down a conversation without having to actually respond to the message.

Sure, there are SA trolls in this forum.  There are also people from SA who think bitcoin as an idea is nice, but that the community is being overrun with scammers preying on idealistic libertarians.  You may disagree with their methods, but I defy anyone to say that scams aren't a huge problem right now.

Speaking as a lurker on both forums- sure, some of the SA posters can get a little...hyperbolic.  The same can be said about posters here (does anyone really believe that Matthew Wright has 30 business correspondents who are anonymous and have never posted anything on a bitcoin forum?)  But that's not at all the same as saying anyone who dissents with popular opinion is a troll.  Skepticism is a sign of a healthy, inquisitive mind- and I have to say, I see a lot more of it over on Something Awful than I do over here.

It's not the fact that the Bitcoin community disagrees with you, it's the way you guys have conducted yourselves in portraying your opinions, by inflicting damage on anyone who has an opposing view. I can tell you right now that MANY people in this forum disagree with my ideology (as it matches a much more Liberal perspective) but they still respect me, and I respect them because it's the common courtesy that we owe to each other as human beings.

I've always long suspected this was the case happening on this forum. If you aren't familiar with them here is what I'm talking about:

They are "trolls" who troll each other  regarding funny shit and the like but they once in awhile take up causes that attack other people as we've seen today. I think there should something on a "users status"  on this forum that signals the member is associated with SA ( as we do with scammer labels) so other forum members know who they are dealing with ( in a good or bad way ). If this isn't done I think we are setting a bad precedence for the future of this forum and yes Bitcoin in general. At the very least create a sticky that lets people know who are current forum members and their affiliation to this group.
