Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

I think that if they really want to disrupt the market, they need to find a solution where they are able to cater for customers from not only the US and EU, but also the majority of the rest of the world. That's where the money's at, imo.

Quote
Send BTC, ETH, XLM, or TERN to the wallet address in your account. The top 100 account contributions of BTC, ETH, XLM or TERN (as valued in U.S. Dollars) will be rewarded with a BlockCard™ in Phase 1.

I don't really get the rationale behind this distribution concept, though.

So if your contribution is out of the top 100, you essentially don't get access to phase 1's blockcard, and you lose out on your entire contribution? I doubt that there will be much of a market for people who would want to pay an absurd amount of money, just to spend their cryptos on a visa card.  Roll Eyes

Yeah, you may as well cough up the $10(plus transact fees) needed for bitpay’s card instead of essentially entering a lottery. Also, is it really necessary to disrupt the market? They probably just want to sell debit cards.

Actually, it's still US where the money's at, in terms of people willing to use/spend crypto to buy things. I know mobile payments and card payments are really big in the rest of the world especially in Africa and most developing economies in SE Asia, but these people are far less likely to actually use crypto to buy/spend. That's of course, my rather limited experience in my limited facing time with them but that's the feeling I get anyway.

So it does make sense to open a debit card for a market they KNOW, and then later a market they'll need to research. Coinbase for example even after opening in UK and now extending to six (?) other countries in EU, they still saw majority of revenue from US.

Shit like this really pisses me off. Either they're ready to serve customers or they're not. If you're not ready don't prick tease. Instead don't launch it.

Same goes for debit cards that have tokens. What the fuck do you need a token for other than fleecing people? Some of these cards have dragged it out literally for years.

There's shit tons of money to be made by this one radical act - give a debit card to whomever requests one and then charge them fees to use it.

Anyone who deviates from that model is suspect and irritating.

I and some people I know might actually consider using this card if it weren't for the contributions system they're using to distribute these cards. I'm not a big fan of the Bitpay cards either, but it seems to be a better option than this for most as I assume there'll be some pretty sizable contributions coming in soon. Hopefully these are released to more people soon, otherwise pretty pointless and annoying to bait people like this.

So they can only give 100 people access to phase one and only based on how much money you send to that wallet?
Really really crappy...
Testing the card with 100 poeple???

The way they started is a big turnoff and they only have "plans" to come to the EU but I'm still interested a bit...
Seems like the card issued with that two business:

Quote
The BlockCard™ has been issued to you by Metropolitan Commercial Bank (Member FDIC) pursuant to a license from Visa U.S.A. Inc. “Metropolitan Commercial Bank” and “Metropolitan” are registered trademarks of Metropolitan Commercial Bank © 2014.

I might be wrong but, are those the guys?
https://www.metropolitanbankny.com/About-Us.aspx

Employees   153 Huh?

Quote
he Program Manager for the BlockCard™ is PAL Card Minnesota, LLC.
Seems they operate cashpass.com, no info about the company whatsoever.

Not the best start

funny that all these guys say the same thing: "it's coming..." and it always only comes to US residents and US and the rest of the world is always left out. I wonder why those from Visa and Mastercard do not allow the rest of the world to have the same opportunity that US and EU people have? Why are they discriminating others countries?

LTC... Okay... uhhh who even has that anymore...?

Huh What the hell? Why would you promote a debit card with some shitcoins no one has ever heard of.. I seriously don't get it.

Quote
The Litecoin Foundation, Bibox Exchange, and Ternio want to give crypto holders the ability to spend cryptocurrency with the same ease as traditional credit cards. Through this collaboration, these three companies will help propel the adoption of crypto spending in everyday life. Customers will have the ability to make deposits in various cryptocurrencies and then keep their spendable value in Litecoin (LTC), Bibox Token (BIX), or Ternio (TERN).
Nice way to lock people in your shitcoin. Bleh.

Not big enough of a market to make it worth it for these crypto hobos.
I'm pretty sure VISA and mastercard operate almost everywhere though.

From the lightcoin team we could have accept that it is upcoming promising debit card provider. Even their partnering team also seems good but I am not sure when there is is many service providers for crypto debit card providers are in high numbers what LTC team gonna do here.

I personally wish LTC to reach the peak company in this field.
