The caps on Coinbase for a level 2 authentication are 1K instant buy and 50K per day. Little bit low.

YC

How has the experience with Cryptsy been? Can you fund via credit cards or is it ACH only? In addition, how quickly does it to take for the USD to show up? This has been my biggest issue with Coinbase. A cap and 4-5 days for the larger investment to come through.

YC

The only thing I relate on this is that they currently require you send them a check for USD deposit. And, their account verify process is quite cumbersome requiring multiple scanned docs, etc. I am verified but haven't used the service since I don't use paper checks! Go figure, digital currency and paper checks needed to buy it.

They say they will be adding more advanced means shortly, I'll let you know how it works when that happens...  Smiley

PS: Agreed on Coinbase, too much time...
Transactions must be included in a block to be properly completed. When you send a transaction, it is broadcast to miners. Miners can then optionally include it in their next blocks. Miners will be more inclined to include your transaction if it has a higher transaction fee.

Just tried to mine myriad-groestl with my cpu and got the following:

./minerd -a myr-gr -o http://69.164.206.169:20001 -u groestl -p iWanttominesomedgbGroestl
[2014-07-18 02:24:34] HTTP request failed: The requested URL returned error: 500 Internal Server Error
[2014-07-18 02:24:34] json_rpc_call failed, retry after 30 seconds

it' offline  Tongue

Now with 100Mh/s on Skein.

edit:
Code:
Mining Algorithm #3: DigiGPU (Skein)
This is the most efficient GPU mining algo of all 5 and can be mined with a specialized cgminer download.
In which way is this algo efficient? My HD5870 is at 85°C and so I guess it sucks max power from the wall Huh

There also seems to be a bug on http://69.164.206.169/workers as it shows the exact same hashrate for Skein as for Scrypt.

Yes, skein does appear to be a power hog. We are in the process of re-working the pool. We have brought in some pool experts to help us workout the pool kinks as it has been causing some fuss.

We kept experiencing crashes with Qubit and we also could not get Groestl working correctly. We will keep you posted. Please go ahead and pull your hash from the test pool for the time being.

Will post another update later today/tomorrow.

Thanks again everyone!

New York just released their proposed "Bitcoin Businesses" regulations. They are insane/going to kill off all innovation in NY. Plus, now anyone creating an opensource cryptocurrency that does not retain the names, addresses & locations of everyone using that currency will be considered a criminal.

Yes, some of the regulations make sense. But some are completely impractical. I have already spoken with our attorney who read over the proposed laws. As they stand some are unconstitutional and New York's attempt to regulate & put undo burdens on interstate commerce would most likely be shot down by the Supreme Court.

I am going to write my state regulators here in Idaho to urge them to follow Texas's lead and not New York's. I would urge everyone who is in the US to do the same with their state representatives. Some states could follow new New York's lead, which could be a huge burden on all of us.

Sounds reasonable. Since this could effect us all, how about some info on who to contact in NY to register a complaint on this set of laws?  The article said they were accepting comments but did not give an email address...

Hey guys, perhaps we can rally some people here for support for PIMP support on the nvidia platform. You can donate to the dev here. I love mining various coins but running nvidia miners on windows can be a bit buggy at times. Lets get some support behind these guys for us nvidia peeps. Smiley I am loving the multi-algo approach DGB is taking here lately.

http://www.getpimp.org/features.html

3) develop and release pimp nvidia   17FEj7UEwH32PadCtWnyAS5hGYv7f99Lki   Jun 14th   0.23   2.00   1.77   11%

They are currently only 11% funded. But with our support perhaps we can complete that goal. I for one love the pimp platform and I think bringing it to nvidia would be a godsend.

Bad news from New York State for US users and exchanges:

http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/2aycxs/hi_this_is_ben_lawsky_at_nydfs_here_are_the/

Let's tell them how we feel about this loud and hard! Just try to stay civil... There's still time to change these poorly thought out policies.

Yes. As much as this infuriates us we should all approach this in a civil, well mannered way. By explaining in detail how some of their proposed regulations are not only unenforceable, they are completely impossible we can effect some change.

Also, for those of us in the states, let's contact our local state representative s to effect some positive changes for future generations.

I wonder what their daily withdrawal and deposit cap is. Surprised they got money transmitter licenses that fast. I thought it was a much longer process in the US.

YC

This is a big step forward for Bitcoin in the USA. Has anyone tried out this company? http://www.coindesk.com/trucoin-opens-mastercard-visa-bitcoin-buying/

They can only sell in a few states at the current time, very limited. They need a license in each state they want to service. Give it some time, it will grow...

Cryptsy is going threw the same things from what I gather, they have their FinCEN BSA in Florida, which is why I trade there, USD/BTC markets. Their I believe the 1st in the US to offer that trading pair on a market, not just a buying or selling service like coinbase.

I'm US Based, so, I dont know about their egopay, but as soon as a check clears, its in. That being said, they are working on much faster means for deposits, as they are a compliant exchange and not 'Joes Schmo's Crypto Emporium', these things do take time, it is one that they are actively working on.

Thats not true, Im in NY, lets please not blow this up. If you are an exchange operator in NY then yes your clients would need to be identified. But as far as I read it, aside from that, a coin developer would only need to get licensed for the creation of the digital currency. Not every single person using it or mining it.

“The [framework addresses] safeguarding client funds, anti-money laundering, books and records, compliance requirements and procedures,” said Jalil. “These things are very common in the regulation of the banking and financial services industries.”

If you really want a viable alt-currency, that is to say, a REAL cryptocurrency, you need those things - without them nobody will invest their hard earned money (again, unless you're a reddit juvenile dreamer).

Say goodbye to anonymity.

I whole-heartedly agree with DigiByte.

The proposed legislation is draconian and an affront to open source software development.

It threatens every aspect of crypto-currency.

From mining decentralization, and thus crypto-currency security; to open source software development.

It is an assault on the entire p2p decentralized software movement.

If this legislation passes in it's current form - we should weep for our children and grand-children.

Would anybody mind sharing the letter they send/sent to their reps about the NYDFC proposals? I'm not sure I could explain in adequate terms how some of the proposed regs are unenforceable or nonsensical for the crypto platform. I think I can handle the parts about information collecting well enough but not being a tech guy the nuts and bolts of it isn't my forte.
