Another red flag about Xtra pool is even though it was the first, it was the only pool that did not claim the initial 500,000 DGB reward for setting up a pool. Which we would not pay at this point.
I did some log checking and found that the last login for the accounts that have been compromised was, most probably according to the date/time stamps of the first transactions and all the logs from my servers, from the following ip: 85.25.152.63 (http://whois.net/ip-address-lookup/85.25.152.63). This ip is from the same datacender where Xtrapool's server was. Coincidence???

Single Sign-On Pools: MONA, DGB, NUT, SLR, GLC, VGC, GDN and much more.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

Looks like the difficulty is on the decline and the net hash.

Scammy pools causing lack of faith? Loss of support?

I'm actually a bit worried about the difficulty retarget of Digibyte.

Initially I thought it wasn't a problem, but now the difficulty is >8 with the next "estimated" being <6.5 and there's still 125 blocks to go. That's > 2 hours of mining at a difficulty far higher than we should be. It's probably not long enough to cause serious problems like Catcoin had but it's large enough that it's easily gamed at the moment by big pools and players.

If I had the hashrate, I would join Digibyte next retarget when it goes to 6, then just leave after it's gone up to 8. Rinse, repeat and the honest miners get screwed over.

We did think of this problem before hand, but having a lower time limit on the re-target can cause other problems. Wild difficulty swings in a matter of minutes can be very unattractive to miners. We felt 2.4 hours was a happy medium with some stability. This problem will subside as the net hash grows.

Also appeared in our logs, maybe best to block all access from 85.25.0.0/16 Wink
Speaking about diff, can someone explain me this:

http://store.picbg.net/pubpic/EC/18/e1f90b269e1cec18.jpg

when the current diff is ~8???

This has nothing to do with the coin difficullity, this is VARDIFF

What exactly is VARDIFF?
Many users have inquired about what VARDIFF means. VARDIFF stands for Variable Difficulty. Simply put the pool monitors the power of your mining rig and adjusts the difficulty of work sent to it to optimize the work done. This reduces the times your client needs to get new work from the server reducing load and reducing the time it takes to get more work. This is also good for the pool as it reduces the amount of requests being done to the pool.

My difficulty jumps around, is this normal?
Yes, it is completely normal. The mining server monitors the work you are sending to the pool and if it feels you are sending work too fast or too slow it will "Retarget" your difficulty to best server your client at that time. This process is continual.

My share count has gone way up or down! Will I get paid less/more?
No! Every single share submitted is recorded on our system with the difficulty of that share. That share is then weighted for the difficulty done. When a block is found and the system pays out for that block, your shares are paid based on the difficulty of each one.

Hope that explains it well Wink

I WOULD JUST LIKE EVERYONE TO KNOW THAT UNTIL THIS IS ON AN EXCHANGE THE PEOPLE THAT SAY THEY ACCEPT DGB AS PAYMENT ON THEIR WEBSITE ARE NOT.

Maybe not all of them, but so far in my experience, not one of the sites listed actually accepts DGB.

I am starting to wonder about this coin.

1. So far a bunch of the bounties were given to people who did not properly translate the thread (if i read correctly)
2. Pool added to list scammed all of everyone they could get their hands on (with red flags from the start if I read correctly)
3. People posted DGB payment accepted on site but don't actually accept it - (so far thats the case for the ones I have tried)

We are working to get on an exchange ASAP! Then we will continue to add merchants as they will have a place to exchange. Yes we have had several people try to scam us, we have had several people making websites and sending us the link that do nothing. There have been several not added to the list, including some offering illegal services or goods.

As to languages, we don't speak 15 languages so yes there have been some translation errors by people out side of our control. Please show your support and help us get on an exchange!

We do accept DGB at http://www.cryptodirectory.info/. The process is not automated but when you purchace a featured listing you receive the account details in order to submit your payment. If you wish you can try and verify the process.

I would agree that getting on exchanges is more important, merchants will be aplenty once DigiByte appreciates more in value in the future. Better to build stone by stone rather than try to rush things. Please only add future merchants you can positively guarantee is genuine, otherwise it would not be helping your cause. Also, if you find that a merchant is not accepting DigiByte, please remove them from the list.

Just wanted to give an update of what we are working on:

1) We are testing the android wallet and are looking to release it in the next couple days.
2) We will be updating the Windows, Mac and Linux Wallets to enable QR Code support as well as the source.
3) We will be making several additions to the DigiByte website.
5) We are working on a downloadable windows wallet installer
6) We are working on training material to use DigiMan to teach people the basics of a wallet and how it functions.
7) Have some meetings scheduled to for marketing, adding merchants and more.

We need to get on some exchange to be more appealing to merchants!

It's hard to fully "accept" it at this point. There is no payment gateway, the best I can do at the moment is offer to give quotes on order's placed which I'll then use the spreadsheet and work out a fair price in DGB. I've had my domain registered since last year and getting a .com.au is no easy task. You need to register for an Australian Business Number and Name which costs money and also puts me on a Taxation office list.

I admit I've seen some suspect stuff in this thread but please stop claiming that all the merchants are "scammers", some of us actually want to see this coin grow. E-Cigs in Australia is a pretty niche market so I don't expect to get many orders in DGB at the start but hey I'm supporting the coin and thats what matters. I've also just started accepting BTC through the coinbase plugins (something like this for DGB would be awesome!) and to be honest I wish I had done it months ago.

Great, but PLEASE! make sure that the new wallet is 100% compatible with the old wallet.
ie. Don't change anything that could cause a fork, (like what happened to bitcoin when they upgraded their client) as that would probably kill the coin almost instantly.
