Allright, I didn't see any other sub forums that was suitable.

Let's get to the point:

From time to time I visit certain web-sites and find the information I am presented with valuable.

I never used to donate anything anywhere, but since bitcoin came I've actually done a few small
donations here and there, and also received some!

There's a couple of sites that I find useful, I won't link here (so I won't be accused of trying to
get attention to these sites. Smiley )

Anyway, the first site, I wrote an e-mail to the owner, explaining I wanted to donate 1 BTC to him
if he provided me with a bitcoin adress within 7 days. This guy was probably a non-techie, so he
did not reply. I sent a follow up mail later on, explaining the offer was still available. 1 BTC at the
time was enough to buy him a diner from the store in my country. Still no reply from him. Well, then
I would not bother him anymore, that's okay.

Today I sent a mail to the admin of another site. This site tracks numbers for telephone sales
agencies. Basically what it does is that you can google a phone number that did an incoming
call to your phone. More often than not, you get a hit on his site. And there people make
comments about the various numbers, what the ppl calling wanted and so forth. I find it useful.

Anyways, I sent him a brief e-mail, telling him I liked his service, and told him I'd donate 0.5
bitcoins to him if he gave me a bitcoin address. Less than 1 hr later, he responded that he'd not
used bitcoin before, but he had now aquired a bitcoin address which he gave to me. So I'm now
sending him 0.5 BTC. This is of course not much, but all helps.

Esp. for tech savy web site operators, bitcoin is a good way to receive tip. Bitcoin services
that's operating these days all have a bitcoin address, but there are heaps and heaps of tech-
sites where they don't even know about bitcoin.

So if you know about a good blog, or a good site, that you find valuable to you, if they don't
already have a bitcoin address that they can use to receive donations, send them a mail,
and offer to donate bitcoins to them. After all, who says no to 'free' money? At least quite
a few will reply positively, so if 100 people on this forum does this from time to time, suddenly
we have new bitcoiners, and then the snowball rolls. The more people know about bitcoin,
the more popular it will become.

Of course major media attention gives the biggest effects, but we shall not underestimate
word of mouth. Smiley

Tought I wanted to share this story, as I found it exciting that this web admin produced
a bitcoin adress I could donate to.

According to MagicalTux, accepting donations in bitcoins is probably illegal in US. Just a heads up.

I think it's very obvious what site owner you should contact about your Bitcoin donations: somethingawful.com and its owner, Richard "Lowtax" Kyanka. He had a fallout with Paypal a while back, so he may be receptive.

That's one of the lies the statists spread to keep the sheeple clinging to their debt-ridden fiat currency. Don't buy the hype.

So if you know about a good blog, or a good site, that you find valuable to you, if they don't
already have a bitcoin address that they can use to receive donations, send them a mail,
and offer to donate bitcoins to them.

Or a good YouTube video / YouTube channel.

Yes, that's a good one too. I'm considering offering up my bitcoin adress on my youtube channel, I will probably recieve not many donations as my audience is very non-tech since it's a non-tech channel, but I can try, and see how it goes. :p

And as you say, of course, if there's a good youtube channel, contacting the youtube channel owner offering a donation is not bad either. Smiley

I'm just saying you never know. There's little doubt that a BITCOINTELPRO campaign is being waged on the community by the FBI - the only question is the scope.

Even if you dont get a lot of donations its still a non-anoying way of propagandizing Bitcoin.

You just called MagicalTux a liar?

I'm just saying you never know. There's little doubt that a BITCOINTELPRO campaign is being waged on the community by the FBI - the only question is the scope.

My guess is they'll release a pdf... and maybe make a powerpoint slide or two.
But hey..  even if they release the kraken, I expect they'll only succeed in making it difficult for US citizens.  Bitcoin will still be useful without the US.
