It is pretty hard to rank up because of the merits point system, once you get to the point where you have to reach a certain number of merits to rank up it starts to get more complicated. You will really need to try and post something valuable in order to get these merits. Because, not everyone gives away merits easily matter of fact they barely give them away Roll Eyes

it is very difficult on this forum these days because of the greed that exist among some members over here. These days you will hear that why should I give someone a merit when I can give it to an altcoin he/she is managing. Nevertheless, there are some good and warm hearted senior members who still give merits based on quality of posts

Hahaha look on the black market I think you can search for Merit!!! Hahaha
Seriously , don't focus on merit earning... focus on your learning...

I strongly agree with that. as a newbie if we keep on focusing to get those merits and creating quality posts and keep on asking on how do we get one without even having the knowledge about everything is just a waste of time. i think we should focus more on learning and understanding things in here and the merit will just follow, because if we are knowledgeable enough we can construct things in an easy way. we should focus more on studying perhaps.

I have heard that is is very hard for people to rank up in here. How true is this?
It's true, rank requirements right now is different than before due to MERIT SYSTEM implemented by the admin himself.
Ranking up will be difficult but you will still rank up by completing the rank requirements if you work hard for it. Just go to META BOARD and read the stickies there about Merit and rank requirements or visit this

I do not think Merit is hard to get , as long as you have knowledge, constructive, and valuable post to contribute  of this forum, it is possible to get Merit easily ,and to rank your position up.

I am replying to your comment so i can come back and see how easy it is for you in a few months time. I have seen a lot of people who make very educative posts but are still at zero.
There has been rumours that some people are hoarding the merits so that others do not rank up and take higher positions for the bounty campaigns. How true this is i do not know but i can tell you a lot of people with hundreds of good posts are still struggling to rank up

I'm just thinking also how to get this merit,  but I realize that maybe this is for those  who have a quality post and to those who have a high rank only, because mostly I saw some member that has a merit is high rank.

Very very hard, almost impossible. I got just 5 in 5 months, like 1 per month on average. Getting another 135 to rank up would take me 11+ years  Grin

Then some smartass can rank up his/her friend or alt in 1 week just because theymos gave away tons of merits to senior+ members naively hoping they will do some good to the forum and help merit sources. Now we have literally thousands of merit sellers/exchangers.

But the merit system will stay nevertheless and the only way to rank up is to write useful articles yourself (don't even think of copying it from somewhere else, you'll be banned straight away if caught).

I don't think that it is difficult to earn merit points because if you are sharing your knowledge with others then other members would definitely give you merits if they find it valuable. However, this feature is still new as compared to the age of forum and thus it will take some more time to inculcate the habit of giving and receiving merit to improve the overall quality of the content. The best way for us is to share our knowledge in a best possible way and others will definitely appreciate it today, tomorrow or even after a year in the form of giving the merit points.

Never felt hard to me, maybe because I never thought about it. What's so special about merit, anyway? Just keep improving yourself and eventually someone will notice you, I do noticed that merits are normally given for the first commentaries or people that starts topics! So here is a hint, make your topic original or very helpful, anything is fine, we are here to share our knowledge after all.

I am also a newbie here and it is hard in my part to gain merit that easily. I am still on processing to progress more information and gain more quality and valuable post to conquer that called merit. Thus, it is just my opinion on how to get merit easily.

Just enjoy and read more information and comment that is suitable to the topic or thread so that you will gain any merits.

It is truly hard to rank up in this forum…But it is for its quality, before you reach up high, you will need to step one by one to some like ladderized position, you need to reach or require some requirements like how many posts you need, how many merits you need and you need to post a valuable one which of course to help others in this forum and inform new knowledge to others. As other said no easy money here, you need to sweat before you harvest your fruitful work.

The international post promotion initiative started by Jet Cash is now live. You will need to be a member of the Fit to Talk English project, and your post will need to be approved by the tutors there. New members who don't have English as a first language are especially welcome. You will need to make a well thought out and interesting post about Bitcoin or crypto-currencies. The tutors will then vet your post, and work with you to improve your English. If the resulting post is approved, then you can post that in the Bitcoin Talk forum, and you will get full credit for the post. You are also guaranteed to receive merit for the final post.
