my rig won't turn on with risers

hello
i just bought a new rig...
i have 280x and asrock k87 killer fatal1ty
if i turn on the mobo without any gpu it start without problem
if i add a riser 1 16 the psu try to start (the fan move for 1 cm :-P) but after that is all powered off... (i can see the sapphire write blink for an instant during this time)

i made the bridge on the pci 1x ... but the result is still the same

any tips?

If you're using a powered riser (especially from china) sometimes the wire connection is faulty and doesn't work. Try a non-powered riser or if you really want just remove the power cable from the riser and see if that works (may take some soldering to get it back on though...)

i think i found the problem...
was the pci of the mobo... the first slot (1x) when plugged gave this error...

and i think the psu after this error was in a protect mode, i waited like 10 min with the psu off, and after that it worked

1100 .. but i think was a problem from the mobo or something else... bc this problem happen only when i use the pcie1 .. if i use others pcie it start (but with more than 1 gpu the gpuS aren't detected...)

Note that you !MUST! use powered risers with this mobo since there is no separate connector on the mobo for the pci-e slots.  Even though the cards are powered by an onboard power connector they still draw some power from the motherboard.

In addition, there may be some bios settings on this mobo regarding the detection of GPU's

Order of troubleshooting as follows:
1. GPU's - Test each one with the pci-e x16 slot one at a time and see if each one mines.
2. Risers next - Test each one at a time to see if the GPU mines...I have seen this test fail.  Also make sure the single wire on the Molex connector is not popping out when you plug it in....triple check this.
3. Now start adding one card at a time rebooting and checking to see if the newly added GPU mines.

A good rule of thumb for PSU's is 300W for any cpu or gpu in your system as follows:
-mobo and 1 GPU = 600W
-mobo and 2 GPU = 900W
-mobo and 3 GPU = 1200W etc

This assumes you are using at least 80 plus high end name brand power supplies...personally I like to use Gold.  Stay completely away from none name brand PSU's

I have the same problem except I use a Z77 Mpower board..

When the 1x to 16x riser is plugged in, it takes 3-4 times before it boots... It will start up, fans hit 100% and then freeze.... over and over until it finally boots... (3-5 times before success).

Riser is fine, I've tested with multiple risers... When I plug in the molex, it also doesn't work so I'm not sure what that could mean.

Any ideas, it's very annoying and makes my rig super unstable?

That still sounds like a faulty riser to me and it more often than not happens with these made-in-china powered risers.
