#1 Drastically lower the difficulty adjustment (20 crops (blocks) per adjustment?more/less?)
#2 Reduce crop(block) creation time from 420 seconds to 4:20 (260 seconds)
#3 Include some hard-coded node ip's for easy startup
#4 Add networkhasrate method

Updates

1/14/14 - Steady growth in the community. We now have -
  • Mac OSX wallet
  • New icon
  • Multiplayer Texas Hold'em
  • A snazzy "Crop" Explorer
  • Quality grow-op(pool) with solid uptime
  • Patch in development
  • Light exchange exposure
Things are looking good for KushCoin, and bounties are a major focus coming into the next week. Please donate to the donation address listed here in the OP to help fund bounties that help pay for the development of awesome new services.

1/12/14 - (first 24 hours) -Heavy competition in the first day, pools getting attacked a bit but solo-mining running nice and strong. Within hours we had people releasing pools and explorers. Trades have taken place valuing KushCoins at well over 1 LTC per 100k, and that's is the opening trades!!. The difficulty is now at 0.25, up from 0.00024414 at the start, and we are still way ahead of target time, showing lots of support for KushCoins. Lots of growth ahead, games coming soon, the team asks everyone to put the word out in an effort that it may eventually fall on the right ears and get KushCoins into more mainstream avenues.

Bounties Wanna donate to bounties? PM or anonymously donate to 1PiuM1qNoQmYGEVDEZnW9wCERp4EBF6vAw

1. Keep a pool running for at least 5 days (expected downtime does not disqualify you, but it cannot be down for more than a hour a day, we expect you would want to keep it running after that too) Total Bounty at the moment is [25,000 KHC] (Donators to this bounty: BitMonkey@25,000~) - Bounty collected at end.

2. Create wallet for android market [5,000 KHC] (Donators to this bounty: BitMonkey@5,000~)

3. Create exchange

"We literally have no pools, no exchanges, no casinos...yet... nothing is already made.
All that is left to you, can you say "much profit awesome fun time?", we think you can."
We just got done putting everything up online and making it available to the public,
difficulty as of writing this is 0.00024414.  Grin

->Obviously people have developed services now, but this statement was true when started Smiley

No reason to rush... KushCoin will still be here tomorrow

Get involved today!!

Any addnode?

Code:
### kushcoin.conf configuration file. Lines beginning with # are comments.
### Uncomment and edit options you wish to use.

## JSON-RPC options (for controlling a running kushcoin-qt/kushcoind process)

# server=1 tells kushcoin to accept JSON-RPC commands.
server=1
listen=1

# You must set rpcuser and rpcpassword to secure the JSON-RPC api
# You should create your own new random password.
# The username and password MUST NOT be the same.

rpcuser=kushcoin
rpcpassword=password

# How many seconds kushcoin will wait for a complete RPC HTTP request
# after the HTTP connection is established.
rpctimeout=30

# By default, only RPC connections from localhost are allowed. Specify
# as many rpcallowip= settings as you like to allow connections from
# other hosts (and you may use * as a wildcard character):
#rpcallowip=10.1.1.*
#rpcallowip=192.168.1.*

# Listen for RPC connections on this TCP port:
rpcport=8332

# You can use kushcoind to send commands to kushcoin-qt/kushcoind
# running on another host using this option:
rpcconnect=127.0.0.1

# Use Secure Sockets Layer (also known as TLS or HTTPS) to communicate
# with kushcoin -server or kushcoind
#rpcssl=1

# OpenSSL settings used when rpcssl=1
rpcsslciphers=TLSv1+HIGH:!SSLv2:!aNULL:!eNULL:!AH:!3DES:@STRENGTH
rpcsslcertificatechainfile=server.cert
rpcsslprivatekeyfile=server.pem

port=9385

## Network-related settings:

# Run on the test network instead of the real kushcoin network.
#testnet=1

# Connect via a socks proxy
#proxy=127.0.0.1:9050

# Select the version of socks proxy to use (4-5, default: 5)
#socks=5

# Use proxy to reach tor hidden services (default: same as -proxy)
#tor=

##############################################################
## Quick Primer on addnode vs connect ##
## Let's say for instance you use addnode=4.2.2.4 ##
## addnode will connect you to and tell you about the ##
## nodes connected to 4.2.2.4. In addition it will tell##
## the other nodes connected to it that you exist so ##
## they can connect to you. ##
## connect will not do the above when you 'connect' to it.##
## It will *only* connect you to 4.2.2.4 and no one else.##
## ##
## So if you're behind a firewall, or have other problems ##
## finding nodes, add some using 'addnode'. ##
## ##
## If you want to stay private, use 'connect' to only ##
## connect to "trusted" nodes. ##
## ##
## If you run multiple nodes on a LAN, there's no need for##
## all of them to open lots of connections. Instead ##
## 'connect' them all to one node that is port forwarded ##
## and has lots of connections. ##
## Thanks goes to [Noodle] on Freenode. ##
##############################################################

# Use as many addnode= settings as you like to attempt connection to specific peers
#addnode=69.164.218.197
addnode=67.207.158.59:9385
#or use as many connect= settings as you like to connect ONLY to specific peers:
#connect=192.168.1.20:8333

# Do not use Internet Relay Chat to find peers.
noirc=0

# Maximum number of inbound+outbound connections.
#maxconnections=125

# Miscellaneous options

# Pre-generate this many public/private key pairs, so wallet backups will be valid
# after future transactions.
#keypool=100

# Add an optional transaction fee every time you send kushcoins.
#paytxfee=0.01

# Add timestamps to debug.log
#logtimestamps=1

# User interface options

# Start kushcoin minimized
#min=1

# Minimize to the system tray

How can you determine whether you have mind a "real" block or an orphaned block.
When i check the debug.log it says nothing about orphans just 'accepted'

You are mining a real block, but its happening faster then you can communicate with the system, so once it updates it removes it when it finds out someone beat you to it...kinda...

Can I ask what "We literally have no pools, no exchanges, no casinos... nothing is already made. All that is left to you" means? Does that mean the devs have no plan to support the growth.. (lol growth)

But seriously, will there be exchanges? Will there be giveaways? Or is this all up to us to try to figure out?

Life is full of ups and downs... And so is the crypto market Smiley

All 3 things you mentioned will be out in no time.

Giveaway already here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=411469.msg4456129#msg4456129
and leduc was giving away too.

What that means is that nothing was coded in advance, the "green" light to start designing and implementing was today Smiley

But yes KushCoin Dev Team will be hard at work competing in our free market

Strange. Now I cannot connect with cgminer at all.

First, my blocks were saying accepted (and windows notification notified me of incoming). But then they did not show in my wallet, so on the next block, I watched and the address it says it was sent to is NOT my address for the Kush wallet (no other wallets were running).

Did nothing but turn everything off, and back on, and now it won't connect?

I guess this coin is not worth my time as something fishy is going on (really, I am trusting someone who made a Kush coin, LOL)

Honestly you don't want to mine with the wallet.
The wallet download comes with a sample conf.
Point cgminer/bfgminer/minderd to localhost:port
Use your rpcuser and rpcpass.

Its really simple..

Coin is scrypt.

you can its a bit hidden because usually people use the 3rd party miners.

At the top of the client
Help
Debug Window
Console Tab
Type in this:
setgenerate true -1
that will start your mining
you can then type
getmininginfo
and you will be able to find your hashespersec there to see if its working
Smiley

you can type help in the console to get a list of other commands

So you know the percentage of coins you see havent been premined, the network kinda just took off and started blowing through blocks fast. and the 100 people or so cracking away at it are the ones getting the coins naturally Smiley

Every block has a share_id, but its not linking correctly to normal shares.
Im gonna take the stratum offline and check in the morning and talk over it with the ppl from mpos.

Its 04:30 am here and i want to have some sleep.

Sorry that the pool is not handling it. But everything will be allright Smiley

We are getting close to another difficulty adjustment which should slow it down again...

We are already at 0.01562500
and started at 0.00024414

And the blocks are coming out quick still Smiley

A lot of power at this, looking like a good future

Block 8064 (i think?) we should see a difficulty increase

Remember this is set for 420 second block time, so we are obliterating that with the network at the moment

match up the parameters in your kushcoin.conf file
rpcport
rpcpass
rpcuser
etc.

to the parameters in your cg miner . bat or whatever you use to launch it.

It stopped working half an hour ago.  It's the same problem as muchhash, so maybe even though we can't see them, our mining can still be linked to us later.

Hmmm I wonder where buy support might come from.....

If only there was an emerging industry that was already notoriously wealthy and moving money all around that identified with our weird name and branding

Well bad news,
I tried to mine some blocks single but still getting the unknown shares.
Im going to open the pool and ask the ppl to fill in there addresses for payout.
Then im going to do a manual payout to the people based on shares. Also do a manual payout on the coins you have left..
Something is not good.

hey, my payout address is already there.  so you are just going to take everyone's total shares and divide up what you have in the pool wallet?  I did receive a few auto payouts before the pool went down yesterday.

my pool username is jsgh.

Thanks.

great.  thanks.  Klondike coin pools had similar issue on release of coin.  I think it was due to the block storm.  Once the difficulty increased it seemed the pool software could handle it.

My god, what a fuck-up this coin is!

Total coin from OP - 420,000,000 total coins.

4200 coins per block.

10962 blocks processed.

10962 x 4200 = 46,040,400

Been getting 10/11 blocks per hour for last few hours.

if you're talking about t-Hash, I'd get out of there. Doesn't seem to be working quite right. I went there waiting for my block chain to update but didn't see any blocks getting found. They shouldn't keep the pool up if it isn't working, IMO.

Any one kind of know *why* the pools are not functioning? muchhash is normally a pretty competent pool...

The git repository is a bit of a shit if you ask me, having people download zipfiles and all.

this is only thread i found that may have the same issue maybe writing to some of them may be helpful..

from the thread:..
You will see last block finder as UNKNOWN and time found last block freeze. This is sign of DDOS but mining seems continue working

If you installed KushCoin already
go to file explorer and type in %appdata% in the address bar
then go to the KuishCoin File
It should go in there, there wont be one already because it is not vital to operation but helps greatly connecting to the small network

Not sure. I noticed that kushcoind didn't give this info with the "getmininginfo" call. may he built it using some old version of another coin. It's certainly kind of annoying.

http://coin-base.info/kushcoin may have broke the same way the first 2 did.  First unknown posted, and now 40 blocks without finding one.

I bet it's the share id's again. It's %4,000 worked.  After the diff goes up it will lower the percentage worked, but the problem will still be there.

I want to mine this coin, but I don't have enough hash power (hue) to solo mine and pools seem to be dead or having issues.

coinbase pool is working perfectly, have mined over 500K in the last 2++ hours. I logged in again now when you I saw you post and another 200K just appeared so those 40++ blocks must of paid out sitting as unconfirmed now

I guess I'll give it a shot then. Oh, and thanks for being so nice to donate. I could definitely use it considering my hashrate is so bad.

I saw this coin in the announcements, and just had to chuckle.

Mining at coin-base right now, my bricks of Kush are being confirmed as we speak.  The pool seems to be running fine.

Watched the estimated round shares climb over 7000%.  Block numbers were advancing so I figured all was cool.  Had a pile when that one finally caught up!

I didn't see anything about any bonus blocks, are there any?  Would be fun to have some 'super female' or 'genetic mutation' blocks worth double.. or perhaps the 4X 'bubble hash' block?

Discussions of what might be included in a patch:

Right now the biggest things are-

Difficulty Adj. - Reduce to 20 Crops per adjustment? more/less?

Any major differences you see that might be better, wanna get major stuff cleared up early Smiley

*suggestions will be listed in the OP

The 2000 blocks diff. adjustment will kill the coin once it hits a high difficulty without buy support...

Hmmm I wonder where buy support might come from.....

If only there was an emerging industry that was already notoriously wealthy and moving money all around that identified with our weird name and branding

That might be happening sooner than you think:

NYT Headline: Banks Say No to Marijuana Money, Legal or Not

"Legal marijuana merchants like Mr. Kunkel — mainly medical marijuana outlets but also, starting this year, shops that sell recreational marijuana in Colorado and Washington — are grappling with a pressing predicament: Their businesses are conducted almost entirely in cash because it is exceedingly difficult for them to open and maintain bank accounts, and thus accept credit cards.

...banks, including state-chartered ones, are reluctant to provide traditional services to marijuana businesses. They fear that federal regulators and law enforcement authorities might punish them, with measures like large fines, for violating prohibitions on money-laundering, among other federal laws and regulations."

Well bad news,
I tried to mine some blocks single but still getting the unknown shares.
Im going to open the pool and ask the ppl to fill in there addresses for payout.
Then im going to do a manual payout to the people based on shares. Also do a manual payout on the coins you have left..
Something is not good.
hey, did you ever get the share split figured out?

New Kushcoinpool
1% POOL FEE
Payoutsystem prop
only 120 confirms
dynamic Stratum 2-1024
Stratumport 3472
Getworkport 8472

http://coin-base.info/kushcoin/

with Blockcrawler
http://coin-base.info/khc_blockcrawler/

New pool was cruising along pretty fast.

Now it looks like it's out of sync like the last two.
Does anyone have a confirmed balance on this pool?  I have been mining on it for the last 6 hours, have all kinds of unconfirmed, but no confirmed balance.

I can.  30K in the wallet now, 4K confirmed on site, another 28K unconfirmed.

There are 120 confirms for a block, and there are a lot of blocks.  Waiting sucks, I know, but they'll be there.  I've been mining this site for a day now, everything seems to work except for the Net HashRate meter.

Whatcha hashin', jsgh?

I had free time today, so I decided try to make a logo for this coin. This is the result:

If you devs like the logo you can take it like official, it's not doesn't matter. It did just because I wanted.

Anyways the POST SHOULD HAVE A LOGO ON THE FIRST PAGE!

Not sure what's planned for the patch, but would it be possible to add the GETNETWORKHASHPS method added to the debug console?  I try to solo this once in a while but it's tough to know if I'm wasting my time or not if I don't know what the overall hashrate is.

We will add it to the list, I'm sure its possible Smiley

For now there is a way to get an idea of the rate.
Here it is.

If you want to know the avg hashrate for the last 6 hours say,

You take the amount of crops that are supposed to be cracked (6 * 60 * 60 / 420) or (six * sixty minutes * 60 seconds / 420 seconds - target crop time)

This comes out to about 51.5 crops (51.42857142857143)

Now take the actual amount of crops over the last 6 hours
use http://cryptexplorer.com/chain/KushCoin to find out
At the moment it was about 91 blocks

Get the difficulty rating also, at the moment it is 1.0 (easy huh)
now at Wolfram Alpha's site
http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=%2890%2F51.5*1*+2**32+%2F+600%29+byte+%2F+second

(blocks cracked / expected blocks cracked * Difficulty * 2**32 / 600) byte / second
Wolfram Alpha's site does advanced calculations

So the average rate for the last 6 hours was around 13 MH

That's up to all of us, things are going well. We do not need to rush it, that's how these things fail.
But we can definitely keep letting others know about it. I haven't gone overboard with the threads and big caps locks.
I encourage you all to bring in others from less favorable altcoin projects. right now coinye is dead, those people need a new home Smiley

I think tapping into communities outside bitcointalk is big, that's what really got traction for dogecoin.  Maybe r/trees needs to be introduced to kush coin? I'm walking a friend through installing the wallet so I can give him some. Someone who appreciates the theme and has asked about bitcoin in the past.

Awesome. We still need get more people in our community. The coin is great, we only need promote it.

Some ideas?

That's up to all of us, things are going well. We do not need to rush it, that's how these things fail.
But we can definitely keep letting others know about it. I haven't gone overboard with the threads and big caps locks.
I encourage you all to bring in others from less favorable altcoin projects. right now coinye is dead, those people need a new home Smiley

Looks like r/kushcoin is available, I think i'll set that up and work on a couple initial posts pointing here, the kushco.in site, and getting started for crypto beginners.  Then maybe we can introduce it in a r/trees & wherever else it makes sense in a low key, non spammy way.  If it's well received maybe a tip bot could be created, not sure if that's in my skill set or not but I can take a look.

EDIT:  ok, it's up.  http://www.reddit.com/r/kushcoin/.  Hopefully a few folks would like to join & help add to the discussion.  It's obviously a ghost town at the moment.  Dev's - if you would rather run this let me know & I'll hand it over.

I thought this coin would have more success...  Embarrassed

Only been a couple days, this is what it looks like without a huge pump n dump scheme behind it. Bitcoin took a couple years to get truly rolling.
No investors to cry, no one spreading FUD or hype on the payroll, it really doesn't matter how long it takes Smiley It's winning either way Smiley

Awesome, let them know about the opportunity, maybe bring in some service devs. I really would like to see a mobile wallet so you can transact with each other out on the run.

NEW RELEASE COMING SOON

PLEASE BE AWARE AND GET READY TO UPDATE YOUR CLIENTS

im waiting ??

Been postponed until we get the largest  pool operator on board,
The dev team had no intention of starting a pool, but if it takes more than a day or so to touch base with the coin-base pool operator  we will host a new one running the updated client and encourage everyone to come join it for the time being.

Please check OP (Original Post) for updates and notices, it is listed there that release is postponed, also it isn't even 9 EST yet.

Anyone know of a calculator to determine how long it will take to find a block at a given hash rate?  All the ones I can find are only for LTC and don't specifically mention block discovery...just how many coins you'd earn.

That's a little different from what I'm looking for (I think...I may just be too dumb or stoned to know it)

As an example:  There's a calculator for Datacoin that allows you to enter your Chains/day (its equivalent to hash rates), and it will tell you how often you will should find blocks if you're solo mining.

Will that formula help me figure that out?

High everyone,
I'm a noob on the forum but I love this coin and would hate to see it die. I think it has a great community to support it if it lives long enough to be promoted.
Resetting the diff. re target is definitely a must. I have seen this on other coins and just sets up for a strip mining operation. all the big guys go mine somewhere else while the little guys and true supporters grind through the 1900+ blocks at 1 block every 1 to 2 hours and then when the diff. finally addjusts the big guys dive in and rape the coin and all who have put in the good hash. 20 block adjustment would be much better than what we have now but some of the fairest coins I have mined IMO are coins that re target every block.

Also any time you goe to a head shop or talk on another forum mention the idea of adopting kush coin as a method of payment, even if it is only for papers. Dont forget to remind the that the early adopters of Bit coin are now very wealthy.

Just My 2 cents.
Don't forget, Overgrow the government
Keep the coin alive. Grin

Are we stuck on block #14287 for 3h? Wallet not syncronizing either  Huh
The average block time seems like it's taking a very long time, which is throwing a lot of people off of this coin. Needs fixing, 4 hours + is a long time to wait for a block on average. Especially if it's happening frequently.

4 Hour avg. block time = 20 days to confirm a crop and 286 days till diff. re target and thats if the 2 of us keep mining because I think we are the only 2 left mining this coin.

It's like the old fishing adage goes. "There is a fine line between fishing and standing on the bank with a poll in your hand looking like an ideot."

I'm pretty sure we have crossed that line. Obviously even the dev's don't even think it's worth mining

Sorry but I gave it my best shot. I will keep my client running to support the network and watch this thread but untill I see the diff re target worked out and start to see some brick coming into my wallet I' going to have to go find some diamonds

PLEASE FIX THIS COIN

The reason your wallet says 4 hours behind is because it is expexting to see a block every 7 minutes and it hasn't seen one for over 4 hours. as soon as one of us find a block it will re-sync providing you have peers connected. but then it will go to 8 hours per block because I'm out of here Angry

i would love to have this fixed as well.  i gave up the other day.

If it ever gets fixed as stated in the original post i will start mining again.

what's funny is that it seemed like a really fair launch as well, and also already has block explorer and a poker game.

I have more than enough stashed away that I would be more than happy to throw half my stash for give aways etc.  I have over 500000.

I to was getting a pretty good stash. About 275k but nearly 100k of that is unconfirmed and I'm beginning to wonder if I will ever see it and if this coin dies the rest will be worthless anyways.

I guess we can say we gave it a good ride Cry

Here's hoping it gets fixed before everyone forgets it even existed.

I have been mining at coin-base and the pool seems to be working fine. i'm just having terrible luck today.

I noticed the same problem with the wallet being 4 hors behind this morning and while I was working on the .conf file and trying to ad mor nodes a block was found and before I could save the changes and restart the wallet it caught up. I'm still trying to finish my last block and it has been almost 6 hours on this one block. Ive come within 5k of solving 3 times but just cant crack it.

I don't know If I have the patience.

Coinbase works, I have received payments from them before but the fact is that the blockchain is stuck on a block (#14287) so nothing unconfirmed will get confirmed unless it gets "unstuck" =[
Not a pool issue, its a coin issue. Kind of sucks because it was happening a lot recently and it gets annoying once we have to wait a long time for it to finally start working again

thank you.

and the wallet is back in sync for the moment

I didn't mean to imply it is a pool isue. coin-base has been great and no problems paying confirmed coins.
What I meant to imply is the diff level vs. network hash-rate = 4 to 8 hours per block instead of instead of the 7 minutes it was meant to be. so in that regard, yes it totally is a coin isue.

Woah, that was a scary moment. Got me scared for a moment. In other news, prominer.org is back up!
Seems like great news if you know how to use it to the max  Grin Roll Eyes Roll Eyes
Anyway I was having some problems mining earlier, may need to check up on that soon

Devs, we really need to get this wallet update asap!  Potcoin launched yesterday with some issues but a strong hashrate, now I see dopecoin launch pre announced, and that one looks like it may have its act together.  Kushcoin is pretty much un-harvestable at this point due to the high diff and low (no?) hash rate.

If you are still waiting for pool operators to respond I'd suggest cutting them loose and instead of trying to setup your own pool find a p2p operator who can add KHC.  It would really be a shame to just let this die at this point but I fear that's where we're heading.

Tried mining this again yesterday.  I usually mine to make money but occasionally mine the new coins just for fun.

I'm afraid this is it for me, until the coin is fixed.  I see days-old unconfirmed blocks.  I see 20khash pool rate, excluding me, and I'm far from a whale.  More like a large minnow.

It seems like it was harvested too early, improperly cured, and full of mold.  It seems like I have wasted my time and hashes.

Live and learn.  Too bad, too.

I can throw some hashrate against this but it would really be nice to hear something from the devs.

For us miners time is literally money, so it would be great to hear something that says we aren't just pissing away our time. In fact, if the devs have abandoned the coin it would be nice for them to even offer to give it away to someone who might want to run with it. I would be happy to take this thing over.

Same story here as the last 2 posts - Not that I have much hash to throw at anything, but what little power I do have, I'd like to dedicate to something where the devs are responsive and can fix issues in a timely fashion.

We need a "MIA devs" sticky thread. This will help to warn the miners.

Dead. Too bad. Dev probably glued to his couch.
Was a shitty wallet/daemon to begin with. Don't know what retarded coin he cloned it from.

Farewell, Kushcoin, I didn't mine too much of you anyway.

Perhaps someone in the community will take it over.  It's obviously been abandoned.  International salvage rights apply, correct?

Disappointing.

I wouldn't mind seeing a rescue.  Sad, it was one of the first "weed" coins, and fairly easy to mine.  Ah, well.

Perhaps, if devs had their ween-wozzles put in a light socket if they run before finding someone to take over, it would happen less often.

I have a couple lamps I could spare.

Hello, yes the original is being revived. The bitmonkey account has been compromised. I am the original creator of kushcoin. i will sign a block or prove using github that it is me.

the 2014 github is the real one. https://github.com/kushcoin/KushCoin
we need to get some nodes running, now is the time to get behind this.

Same team, also hiring a few new faces. come over to the new thread ^^^
the difficulty is so low rn you can kill it mining...

Also, if you have coins from 2014, they are still good because we just turned on the original kushcoin computer, everyone should have their coins ready to go. no pre mined anything, we all mined (grew) this fair and square right from the gate. I definitely am not even the biggest holder. how's that for an altcoin nowadays? hahaha

Also I have shown that i I control the donation account from this original thread because the original bitmonkey account was compromised. In case you're wondering who I am.
