Guys, I want to ask your opinion about DigiByte coin.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=408268.0

I downloaded DigiByte coin wallet today. The wallet is super fast and the project looks promising due its wallet speed, solid dev team(couple of them senior members in bitcointalk), only 0.5 % Pre-Mine and 7 working pools already. They are currently working on DigiByte Block Explorer.

Let me know what you think about this coin..

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

Branding looks good but the coin lacks anything actually innovative.

I'd guess you'll see it on a cryptsy at some point but because it doesn't actually add anything major, I'd be really surprised if there is still an active community this time next year.

Exactly my thoughts. Gonna mine it for the next few days and then hope it hits Cryptsy at some point in the future and the value isn't completely terrible. The coin limit will probably mean the a single digibyte will be almost worthless though.

This isn't always a bad thing. When a coins market cap is so low, slight swings can give returns in the magnitudes. I'm not saying this coin will do that, and nor would I invest long, but short term volatility mixed with a high coin cap could prove to be a good quick in-and-out earner.

Very true- DOGE has been doing that all week.

The 21 billion isn't so hot comparatively. There are lots of coins with only minor differences. Some will gain marketshare though through branding, advertsing and partnerships.  It's a big world out there and lots of people want to get out of fiat.

Im only mining on a laptop, but i started mining digibytes today. it seems like they have a lot going for them right now with a good development team and all. hopefully this coin catches on and my few that i mined are worth something haha. that would be awesome.

They did the launch right, and pretty much what everyone has already said about branding and transparency. I like it as a short term thing, though I'll probably hold a smaller amount for a while like I do with most coins...

So 7 billion more coins than EAC
79 Billion less than doge

Price should be somewhere in the region of 0.0000014 BTC (66% of EAC). So every 100K would be 0.14 BTC (ish...)

I find this coin promising, the main thing about a successful coin is not really what new they bring to the table, it's the branding/advertising and the continuous strife from the developers/community to get the coin used in something major that will make the coin successful + the communitys backing ofc. The team has made an impressive start so far and it seems they are committed in it for the long run, this kind of coins is what i like to see  Smiley
