do you think think antivirus companies will have a special focus on protecting the wallet someday (or do they have it alreay)?for example advertising like "optimized for bitcoin". i mean people working there might use bitcoin as well cause they should have a clue about whats going on with bitcoin.

I know this isn't what you're asking for, but instead of relying on something specific made for BitCoin, then arm yourself with protection.

The way I do it, I have a partition with Sandboxie for all trusted programs and another one for untrusted programs.
In the partition with trusted programs, I have a web browser and e-mail only for banking stuff and alike, while in the other partition I also have a web browser, e-mail, but that's for everything else: forum, googling etc. and downloads from torrents etc.
Then I have an anti-virus, firewall, standalone anti-spyware and virtual machine.

Though for BitCoin, I use a LiveCD, which you can find it here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=17240.0

Plus on your router, deactive wireless, remove any port forwarding, turn off DMZ and enable SPI, anti-spoof and restrict UDP/TCP.
You can also use BackTrack to test your network protection and how to improve it.

So you mean I should work out something on my own ... well that could be a problem because I don't even work for my money!  Roll Eyes

Yeah you are right about the sandbox thing - got it recommended some times but never took the time to try it. Now it's the the time to get it started. Well I wonder if Bitcoin will become a theme for software companies someday though - regardless of whether they get paid in BTC or $ ^^.
