Well crap..lol It was 259 shipped earlier. I should have pulled the trigger on that. I won't at 300.
Hmm. thanks for that link. I was looking to buy just one and $259 shipped is not too bad. That seems to be the lowest I have seen after shipping.

More like $300 each!!!!

sebuh price was simply stupid earlier today, he has ~$320 or $345 now with shipping.
Go to my post, I have much better deal (as of right now).

Who knows what will happen in an hour....stop whining about price, take action now before bitcoin is much higher and good luck.

Sebuh price was not stupid at all. The units are in the US waiting to be shipped. The price was $229 just two days ago. He is just having to raise the price as BTC goes up. But I think Bitman will have a large drop in his pricing by the end of the week.

Recieved another group of S1's.  Out of the five, one will not mine worth a crap.  This miner will start out at around 140GH/s and drop down from there until it goes on the way to no hashing and then it will restart and try again.

It shows no XXX's, all OOO's, just will not hash right.

I tried this miner on two known good power supplies that have current S1's mining on them, so its not the power supply.

I tried cable fixed IP, cable DHCP, and wireless dhcp, same problem on all three.  Again, I tried a cable and antenna from a miner that has been running fine and when I was done testing, the original miner is running fine.  This new one does not.

Checked the connectors and wires on the S1, all seems good with them.

Tried to reflash the firmware, did not fix the problem.

The boards on this miner have four of the large caps on each side instead of eight.

In my last batch of eight S1's that I received, there were two miners that also had the fewer caps on their boards.  They mine but pop up errors and have to be rebooted once in a while. The do mine, I just have to keep an eye on them.  When they error, they drop to 120-140GH/s normally, but they have completely XXX'd out and had to be rebooted a couple of times.  I have moved them around with other miners but the problem stays with those units.

So what do I do now with this S1 that does not work?

I had one like this, it was starting, going to ~150, then dropping to nothing, flashing bright green, then restarting.
On this particular miner on the top board (above the sink) one large black chip had a red mark on it (I checked all others-they had either nothing or green or black mark). I assume that it is somewhat defective. That large black chip was severely overheating (results I got with temperature sensor). I was able to fix this miner to a reasonable hashing at ~180gh at standard 350 mhz, but it absolutely requires an additional fan airflow toward the top of the miner and this miner cannot overclock at all. Perhaps, your situation is different, but give it a shot with an extra fan outside. Check if that chip is marked.
I am posting two photos-top is of somewhat defective miner (see mark on a chip), bottom-normal miner (see small mark in green/black)

Yep. It has a red line on it.  I will have to go check the other to see about them.

Must be a QA/QC screw-up.  They mark it as bad and then go ahead and use it any ways.

try the trick with the fan-I used Vornado or any spare fan would do. This miner is hashing for more than a month OK now with no restarts and a little higher HW errors.

I don't know about you guys but I'm starting to sell out my Ants. I think they are starting to become too low hashrate machines.

Maybe in 2-4 weeks if BTC is at 660-670, longer if higher. I am hoping that bitmain will EOL S1, as this should increase the resale value.

Asic equipment cannot rise in value faster than the difficulty jumps.  In 2-4 weeks will be 14-16 Billion difficulty.

That little board at the top is actually the controller board for the S1 .. the 'brain' of the system.  It's not in the power path.  I've got active S1s with red marks on the CPU and they don't give trouble.

If you think it's still the problem you can swap it to another S1 to see where the problem follows.

My miners are already profitable in BTC, now i just need to maximize the resell value in $$ to subtract electricity expenses and have profit in both $$ and BTC.

Now is a good time to sell btc priced equipment or the btc itself, as the price will probably come back down to around $520-530 usd for BTC later.

More like, when Bitmain stops dropping the price weekly, it becomes more market driven instead of the usual

"you want how much?!?!? I can buy them direct for bla bla bla less then your selling!!!!"
