COIN DEVS: BEWARE OF SCAMMERS CLAIMING TO BE FROM POLONIEX. I (busoni/Tristan) am the only one who has the authority to list coins. Furthermore, I will never approach you and ask for a bounty.

Please note: if you need support, the fastest way to get it is to open a ticket at poloniex.freshdesk.com. Please include all relevant information, e.g. txid for deposits, exact amounts, etc. And please, don't open multiple tickets with the same problem, or send the same issue to several different places. It will only slow things down.

I would like to announce a new cryptocurrency exchange - Poloniex.com.

Another exchange? Why?

Several reasons. Here are the major ones.

First, none of the major exchanges are listing NXT. DGEX is great, but I have long wanted to see NXT on an exchange that has candlestick charts and executes trades at the best possible price. I also think NXT will benefit from being on more than one exchange, and listed alongside other, more well-known currency pairs.

Secondly, I want the fees to be fair, with no surprises. Trading fees are 0.2%, and they will never be raised. Having no fees is not sustainable and will ultimately result in corners being cut, and having no fees for a while to draw customers in and then suddenly imposing them feels like a bait-and-switch to me. Like Pete at CoinedUp, I find withdrawal fees to be outrageous, so Poloniex charges only the TX fee imposed by the client.

Lastly, it is a top priority to keep Poloniex running smoothly. We will not bite off more than we can chew. If traffic starts swamping the servers or we have any problems with the functionality of the exchange, we will address the problem before continuing to expand. We will be upfront about issues.

How can I trust you?

Trust has to be built. I will operate Poloniex with honesty and integrity and be as transparent as possible when answering your questions. I believe this is the only true way to earn trust.

I will monitor this thread and respond to your questions and feedback. If there is anything you have always wanted to see in an exchange, please let us know!

Do you have any affiliation with NXT or own large amounts?  All these new exchanges popping up recently is quite strange.

I have no affiliation with NXT, and I was not an initial stakeholder. I own only a few thousand NXT at the moment.

Deposits are open now.

As for adding new coins, we don't want to jump into that too fast. Soon, though.

Just did a small article about your exchange to hopefully get some more attention to your project :

That's great jdebunt, thanks!

Just wanted to let people know that as per request at nextcoin.org, the LTC/NXT currency pair has been added.

One more exciting feature: NXT deposits and withdrawals are now handled automatically! Withdrawals are sent only a minute or two after the request is put through, and deposits are posted after 10 confirmations.

my first impression is that this service is going to be a dgex murderer. much slicker interface. automatically executed market orders. automated withdrawal. lower fees. i just hope you are a good honest person. will post some orders to help you get started even though i dont really want to buy or sell.

Anon136, thank you for seeing the potential. Understandably, people usually want to put their money where there is the most action.

PinkPotatos, as for markets with different base currencies, I'm highly skeptical. I don't like when exchanges have a million different pairs and list the same currency three or four times. But I do anticipate an eventual need for a third base currency, after BTC and LTC.

If anyone signed up but did not receive their confirmation email, please contact me either here or at poloniex@gmail.com. If you do not confirm your email address, you will be able to log in, but no deposit addresses will be generated for you. We will implement an option to resend the confirmation email soon, and also make it clearer what is going on to users who have logged in but not confirmed.

I like the looks of your exchange, but I have a problem when entering numbers in the sell/buy fields. About half of the numbers I type are not registered. So for example I type 0.00002850, but in the form it becomes 0.00250.

Also, I would like to see direct links to exchanges. Now they are all "https://poloniex.com/exchange", but I would like to have something like "https://poloniex.com/exchange/BTC-GLB".

Yes, I noticed the fields were starting to get a bit slow. I think it's probably an issue with there being too much javascript code in the page. I'll sort it out.

Is it important that the currency pair appear in the address bar, or do you just want a way to link to a specific market?

By the way, some of you may have noticed Poloniex went down for a few minutes... just doing a little maintenance to cope with the increased load.  We now have over 200 users!

It seems that Poloniex is being DDOSed. It should be responding fine now, but please let me know if any of you cannot connect to the website.

It was mainly about having a way to link directly to a market (or save it in bookmarks).
