Looking to create a new Altcoin.

I know what you're thinking.. "No, Don't do it!! We don't need anymore!!"

I know, I know.. But let me just tell you I am not thinking about creating the next profitable hit coin. I am more just looking for some hands on fun, for a personal project, that someone could help me out with.

I am not sure how much work is behind altcoins, and not even sure if this is the place to ask? If not please reference me to the right direction! Thank you very much

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.
