Dash Isn’t a Privacy Coin? Nothing Is? Joël Valenzuela on Crypto Ramble

This weekend I had the distinct pleasure of appearing on Crypto Ramble with Desi-Rae Campbell for an in-depth conversation on privacy coins. We covered extensively the concept of privacy in cryptocurrency and the numerous variables associated including what exactly the user is trying to obscure (transaction destination, transaction amount, overall movements of funds on the network, etc.), as well as the potential tradeoffs. These can include extra data (and therefore cost), time, difficulty, rigid parameters, and other detractors to user experience. We also covered how the field of obfuscation and privacy is in a constant arms race against attempts to de-anonymize transactions, and how new exploits are constantly being found and later corrected.

The good news is, the development of payments through third-party services is good, but how reliable is it to keep all your funds on this service?
Will I lose all my money if something happens to the project? I think that holding all the coins on it is still dangerous, since there is no regulation in this matter.

Did the developers put it in code that it must drop a rank in certain time frame?
Still remember the days when it first dropped out of tens, anyone old enough here to remember when it was classed as alpha crypto (top 9)

I would say these debit and creditcards should be handled the same as how we handle mobile crypto wallet apps, you only leave a small Dash amount on them.
Maybe put more funds on them, when you plan to make a specific high value purchase.

Before putting any large funds into them, i would really need to know if there is some kind of safety and insurance policy in place.

Currencies like Monero, Tezos, Cosmos, BTC have a much better performance than Dash in recent months in terms of prices and capitalization. We are in 2015 Dash/BTC prices...BTC win Dash lost

It seems that Dash is only used to be mined, and quickly shed to exchange for dollars or BTC.

Even the master nodes themselves seem to sell to the market to recover a part of the investment and not give the total investment as ruinous, especially if the master node was occupied as of June 2017.

The market is cruel, less developed or less used currencies have a better behavior.

I don't know what the point of no return is for Dash and its developers, but it seems very close.

We'll see if one day Dash takes up the bullish path or is able to separate from BTC, something I think we all doubt.

From the mistakes we have to learn, and I think that the disappearance of Dash Labs without giving explanations has been, together with Dash's last conference, an escape from investors towards other projects.

2020 will start very badly in terms of financing funds, we will see if it is possible to recover or it will be the year of the definitive collapse.

Good luck.

Current downtrend making this easier to take advantage of recent drop in price so this could make happy the strong believers to grab more before it get into bullish zone. This coin is still very promising and it could make the shocking comeback in future.

Zcoin’s Reuben Yap on Privacy Coin Tradeoffs, Delistings, and Lelantus Protocol

I had the great pleasure of sitting down for an extended chat with Reuben Yap, project steward of Zcoin, on the nature of privacy in cryptocurrency and the various privacy coins. We discussedthe ongoing tech battle between forms of obfuscation and de-anonymization techniques, including the different ways of correlating bits of leaked information together in order to infer enough to completely reveal transaction details. We went over the complexity of the privacy issue with different elements of a cryptocurrency to be obscured: transaction graph, send amounts, and network information, and misconceptions that all “privacy coins” obscure all three rather than just one, when most simply affect the transaction graph, as well as the false idea that coins which attempt to obscure multiple aspects are inherently better at obscuring the transaction graph than a coin that specifically targets that one aspect.

Tension is rising. The spring tightens more and more.
Will shot upward, unambiguously. Look, wanting to buy DASH more and more.
I buy a little too)

Indeed that's looking calm before the big storm sooner or later it will take back its position among top 15 markets. Dash still a big project in the crypto universe so that I would like to it will be nice to keep buying as much as we can afford to HODL for long run.

I know that many people are looking at market capitalization when they compare how coins are successfull or not. I prefer coins monthly volume, because it shows how liquid is market for every coin and for me it is much better indicator for coin real position on the market.

When you compare market capitalization and monthly volume list on CMC ,you can see clearly this kind of disproportion :

thats a good one Grin what tools/insiders you using to sort out fake volume?  Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

You compare exchanges. You are looking how deep are theirs buy and sell  side and daily volume.

Example - if you look at DASH/BTC pair on Poloniex and Binance you can see next:

Poloniex Buy side is 24 BTC deep, sell 17283 DASH, daily volume is 33.75 BTCs.

Binance buy side is 28.5 BTC deep, sell ~5900 DASH and daily volume is 271 BTCs.

So,Binance with 19% deeper Buy side and 3x smaller sell side, generates 8x bigger volume.Clearly, it is unreal for Binance to have 8x bigger volume.

Generally, all chinese related exchanges make more or less fake volumes.

QuadrigaCX, an online cryptocurrency exchange, is unable to distribute funds to investors after QuadrigaCX’s co-founder and main operator, Gerald W. 2020/04/27 15:12 estimated reduction time
It is necessary to wait approximately (130 days, 9 hours, 37 minutes)
But by then, DASH could drop to 130th place. Sadness...

Oh what a surprise Dash decided to drop a place.

Why so? Issues are numerous:
Unfortunate instamine, premine, ninjamine accidents.
One of the worst names in crypto with bad brand recognition as a million things called a dash, anything from a short sprint (ironic) to a punctuation mark, the queens dog, cleaning service, plumbing connections...... There is only one Dogecoin, period.
Incompetent inexperience  management.
Forum is cluttered with massive images, childish,  void of any style or class.
Bad tech, code
Terrible coin emission rate
..........

The edge of the cliff is Dogecoin, dropping below it, its officially lights out, the point of no return. There is some breathing space for now (~$28) if it happens there will be a dash for the hills.

The bear market does not justify the bad behavior of Dash regarding currencies with hardly any development that already surpass it in capitalization.

Is it time for a change in the Dash Core management?

Is it time for the nodes to decide who they want to take the reins for the future?

The good thing about Dash is that tomorrow a proposal can be submitted to dismiss Core's management and if the nodes decide they will put new people.

Is Core the problem of Dash?

Probably not, but this is like basketball or soccer teams, if the team goes wrong, the players are not fired, the coach is fired.

Are 4800 nodes wrong?

Is an attack to get cheap Dash face future governance control, controlling 51% of the master nodes?

Who controls the majority of nodes will have enormous power in the future if Dash does not disappear.

I have followed those weeks to the Dash wallets, and it is accumulating in the top 1000 and percentage is lost in the rest, this means that it accumulates by few hands while small wallets succumb to the price drop.

anyone knows if this Dash wallet is an exchange wallet?

https://chainz.cryptoid.info/dash/address.dws?18404881.htm

Greetings and good luck.
