Anyone stupid enough to trust their $$$ and their liberty to a 3rd party browser plugin deserves the inevitable poverty and jail time that will ensue. I always thought this was a horrible design decision. I applaud their efforts but implementing it as a browser plugin ensures I'll never be using it. You forget that most people are fantastically stupid and far too lazy to learn enough to realize what a terrible idea it is... Widespread adoption is all the devs are concerned with, and they'll get it. Cost to the users for being ignorant doesn't matter. As with all the IT stuff I grew up with... Getting something to just barely work is all that matters. Getting to to work correctly and securely, well, that's way too much trouble so why bother since most people won't notice the difference until it's too late. Look how these same people vote... Tehre are only two unlimited resources that reach planet Earth. Sunlight and Stupidity. Look at the empire Jobs and Gates built on taking advantage of the stupid... One thing I don't understand, why there hell is Darkwallet getting SO much press, with it's inferior centeralised technology, while Darkcoin gets so little? It seems the major press, and places like coindesk.com only post on bitcoin...or litecoin or dogecoin... that's their limit. Like I said, stupidity. It's the overwhelming personality trait of 99.9999% of the population. Unless you were born yesterday, I don't see why that's a surprise. DRK is a pearl cast before swine. This is why I oppose the fast track Open Sourcing... It'll get ripped-off by shitcoins before it can establish itself. Dark Wallet is super convenient. Like Windows. No concern for what a tragic security failure it is. Like Windows. It's for the stupid and lazy. Low Information Voters are also Low Information Users. They don't think ahead, or at all...

I want darkcoin to succeed as much as anyone else, but darkcoins marketcap isn't even 8 figures. Its fucking worthless. If it breaches the top 3-5 of non premined coins, expect it to start getting limited but some headway on the major crypto news outlets.

Updated... Unclear if I should be running the darkcoind binary or the one in the git source code. They build to the same size and strip to the same size... Are they the same thing? Open Source now?

I think short term, yes... But there's a source code link... I think this will kill DRK before it gets started. I'll enjoy being wrong if I am, but I doubt it.

If it breaches the top 3-5 of non premined coins, expect it to start getting limited but some headway on the major crypto news outlets. If it has a positive market cap, but definition, it has "worth". Yes, it's small and there are plenty of accredited investors that could easily dump six figures into the coin, however, there just isn't the supply there without the price moving largely. Let it fly under the radar for the real long-term investors to pick it up and once a fully-functional product is working (and vetted), price will appreciate. As I've said before, if the crypto market as is is $6 billion, it isn't hard to imagine AT LEAST 1% of the holders caring about privacy. I'm willing to wager that the people that are familiar with BTC are on the geeky/techie side too and the percentage would be even higher. You do the math. I'm personally trying to put about a grand/mo. into it at these levels. Pissed because I had 10k coins that I dumped literally days before the massive move above 175k. I take full responsibility and have since been building my position back.

Nice new splash screen, but still no password protection at startup. There really ought to be, IMHO.

Remember this article about Dark Wallet? http://www.wired.com/2014/04/dark-wallet/
Andy Greenberg kept seeing "Darkcoin" mentioned over and over again in all of the comments, so he gave me a ring yesterday to see what all of the fuss was about. He's writing up another article about Dark Wallet and he's going to include some info about us as well. Should go out tonight!
