I have spoken with someone at cryptsy. Its not their fault. They are trying to fix a problem where multiple layered TX id's arent registering all the payments within that block. They are working on it, its just a itsy bitsy problem but they have closed deposits just as precaution. Nothing to worry about

Thanks for the update... However, if it's not their fault, but rather something with tx id's, reason dictates that every single exchange should have the same issue Roll Eyes

Precisely, they run Goxware. Even if they're honest people, their architecture can't be trusted. They should not be the #1 exchange in the OP. It's boning us by boning would-be DRKers.

Do we really want to bone people like this during initial adoption phase? Yes, there are growing pains and shakeouts and fixes... But since we've figured out part of it, why not do something about is as simple as moving them off of the #1 position and putting a reliable exchange in #1? this isn't their first goof... It isn't even their 10th. They have a track record of serious fuckups. They should not be the exchange we funnel all the noobs into...

I think its something to do with the likes of guys like mintpal being cheap and loading a shit load of payments together as opposed to individually when they are actually withdrawn. Cryptsy have to manually search for each payment as opposed to having an automated search handler. Its a silly problem but I guess cryptsy just trying to nip the problem in the bud before it gets really big

darkcoin is a direct copy of the encryption used in Monero, right? Like the cryptonote algo coin?

No, people were DarkSending money before Bytecoin was even known to exist.

Really? Cryptonote (Monero's algo) was used exclusively on Tor going back as far as 18 monthes ago.  Nobody really knows what for, but there were blocks from back then and they were all filled with legit transactions.
Exact same cryptology as DarkCoin, year or more before it came out

First it was a question now it's an affirmation... So what's your point ? What are you comparing ? Darksend source is currently closed ... How do you arrive to that conclusion ?

I keep talking about decentralized exchange but !@#$%^&* it. When DRK passes litecoin levels I will be paying someone to make a decentralized exchange if no one fixes this problem by then. Course I'll launch my own coin with the same name at the same time to use with this exchange but it will be a means to exchange all altcoins without having to run the risk of being Goxxed to death with zero chance of recourse.  Grin

Of course I have no idea if this is actually possible or not yet but sounds good.

If it was decentralized, wouldn't there be no single person to make the centralized profits?  Wink

When DRK hits $100 a masternode will be worth 100,000 bucks
Who will risk running such a server besides security geniuses?

Could this become an issue. will future masternodes require less DRK?

Evan said he is not considering lowering the DRK requirement for masternode. 1000DRK is reasonable enough and will make the 51% attack harder in the end

What we need next is someone with some programming talent to make a site like a pool, but you buy shares of a masternode. So when masternodes are much more expensive, they could still be divided down to a reasonable level. This would also allow someone who was not computer savvy to invest in masternodes, which is optimal.

I suggest the software not be based on anything existing, so it could become a darkcoin advantage over the competition. It seems pretty simple though, you buy shares for 1DRK, then it has some screens for stats and it pays out dividends much like MPOS.

Would that not in a way centralise the masternodes?

I don't think so, you share only one masternode in a server not all of them.

Plus, remember the people that have 1000 drk plus will set up their masternodes regardless without the use of such a service. So the idea will only add to the total number of masternodes. Ergo, decentralization will be as good as it was without this multipool type masternode service maybe a little better.

I think we'll always have 70-80% of the masternodes operatored by individuals even after they're really expensive to run. But when they get that expensive, it would be nice to have some kind of alternative for investors/supporters. It also increases the overall capitalization of the masternode network, which is really good for the coin. Otherwise this is going to become something just for large investors really quick, so I think it's a good compromise.

It will also have the side effect of people not parking -even their small amounts- to exchanges, but rather have it in small "masternode pools". This will reduce fractional practices (as exchanges can operate with more DRKs than they have), creating more (actual) coin demand. It will also allow Darkcoin to be less gox-able when massive exchanges go down and take half a million coins. If people have incentive NOT to park their money in exchanges, a serious issue is solved.

I agree it would reduce fractional practices.

It might not reduce gox-ing risk.  There would still be considerable counterparty risk, as investors submitting DRK into these 'pooled' masternodes would need to trust that their DRK were not stolen/mishandled/lost.   Hard to predict how centralized such masternode 'services' would be...there might only be a few, especially if the underlying code is not open-sourced.

It's would seem possible, but would be limited to crypto currencies, no  dollar's, euros, etc.

I suspect that someone could come up with a p2p system for funding a masternode pool.

Cryptsy now leading a serious DRK correction. Possibly that last rally was boosted somewhat by people being unable to sell because they couldn't get DRK on the exchange.

Guess 0.02 can wait a few more hours Smiley

I have spoken with someone at cryptsy. Its not their fault. They are trying to fix a problem where multiple layered TX id's arent registering all the payments within that block. They are working on it, its just a itsy bitsy problem but they have closed deposits just as precaution. Nothing to worry about

Thanks for the update... However, if it's not their fault, but rather something with tx id's, reason dictates that every single exchange should have the same issue Roll Eyes

And it's not the fact that they are having a problem that is most concerning... it's the complete lack of communication. That they can't take 2 minutes to post a note on Twitter or on their blog is ridiculous when people have been waiting for deposits for over 8 hours.

Anyway, same old Cryptsy, even after all this time.
