Yes, but if it is sooooo important why doesn't Litecoin hide IP addresses?

Cause they don't care!  neither does bitcoin!

So they don't care about privacy of their users financial transactions, and don't mind letting the Litecoin users reveal their exact identity on the inter web?

Well, that doesn't sound right. Charles Lee wouldn't allow that to happen. That could put people in danger? Do you have your facts straight?

Coins, have you been hacked?  LOL.  No if they care, they're too afraid to do anything about it.  DarkWallet is Bitcoins solution.

What can I say, actually a lot of the bitcoin developers care,  but it's such a risk to do anything about it.  Unfortunately, it's not in the least bit user friendly to have to figure out how to go through tor and hopefully dark wallet will give a good enough solution to this problem.  They're way behind us in it though, and it's still not safe to use according to the darkwallet team.

What's up?

This is the wrong place to ask, as this is the DarkCoin thread.  Try asking here:

https://litecoin.org/

EDIT:  Please report back when they give you an answer.

Ok guys....please...read between the lines...coins101 is playing devils advocate here....he's making us answer the very reason why we want to be here...he's making us think about why we are in Darkcoin in the first place...and if security and anon is important...then LTC and BTC are not the choices for you.  Ok?

I know I may be infamous/hated utterly on this thread, lol. But I have to say, I am extremely impressed by Evan's coding skills and the work he has done so far on Darkcoin, coding/development wise.

So hiding your IP address is a good idea, when you're sending money around the inter web?

Call it "inter web" again and I'll track you down and punch you in the face!  Angry seriously! It is called the internet

But it seems you have a trolly day anyway.

No, he's having a good day. In fact, more people should be asking the same questions.

I agree...because if we can't answer the reason we are darkcoin investors...then how the hell do others know why they want to be darkcoin investors?  Wink

Tor anonymity service says unknown attackers compromised its network

http://www.theverge.com/2014/7/30/5951479/tor-says-unknown-attackers-compromised-hidden-services

Quote
The Tor encryption service is a high-profile bastion of computer security, but the project appears to have been compromised earlier this year. Today, the Tor Project blog announced that an unknown party likely managed to gather information about people who were looking up hidden services — websites that users can operate and visit anonymously, like Silk Road — and could theoretically have compromised other parts of the network.

Remember there are some countries that not only have a hostile approach to bitcoin but are also restricting the internet on a large scale.
The ability of users of that country to mask their IP so they can gain normal access to the internet and can engage in bitcoin transactions without
being tracked is obviously something very positive. There is also the case of verizon versus netflix at which verizon is cutting the internetspeed
so netflix will be problematic for streaming movies. Going behind a VPN solves that issue as it circumvent those restrictions.

see : http://www.techhive.com/article/2457642/how-a-netflix-subscriber-used-vpn-to-thwart-verizons-streaming-slowdown.html

Recently i start using IPVanish to mask my IP, it was recommended by a paid usernetserver i was using for some time now and was even offered
to me for free. This IPVanish masks your IP by placing you behind a VPN of which you can select from several locations worldwide to use

Are you shitting me?

Litecoin is Nr.2 to Bitcoin. Bitcoin is brand leader, the gold standard, first out of the gate with that first mover advantage thing going on.

So WTF has Litecoin got to offer now we're getting mixing out of the box, and IP Obfuscation? Nothing. Nada. Zero, Zilch, Zip.

It's been a long wait, but it's worth it.

So they don't care about privacy of their users financial transactions, and don't mind letting the Litecoin users reveal their exact identity on the inter web?

As I've brought it up and this seems to be a common misunderstanding: The world wide web aka "the web" (meaning actual web sites) does not equal "the internet" but is actually a service built on top of the internet which is merely a medium rather than something that you can interact with. Any cryptocurrency is not built on top of "the web" but on top of the internet. So it actually co-exists independently from the web and thus you can't reveal your identity on "the web" via any kind of coin.

This might seem like splitting hairs but I really can't help it right now. I find it frustrating that even people here know so little about the beauty of a system like the internet. Yes, I'm a geek.  Cheesy

Ok, then back to Charles Lee.  I don't really know him or much about him, but he created Litecoin with almost the sole purpose of being asic resistant.  As soon as asics came out, he went to bed with the manufacturers and did not switch to another algorithm to stay asic free, making litecoin no better than bitcoin, and giving it no reason for being - other than there are a bunch of users that, as long as they can keep interest up (but how? without any reason for being?)  He and his co-developers killed litecoin.

Now Evan has always said he was just buying time for his coin to grow before asics eventually come.  Our coin isn't based on staying asic free.  So when they come, our developers will have to make a decision.  They can come up with a new algorithm or accept asics.  Either way would be fine.  But litecoin has lost all it's value now.  There are sh*t coins that have more innovation than litecoin, pretty much every coin out there has more innovation.

I never had anything to do with litecoin, so I shouldn't care, but in my opinion, they sold everyone out, hurting a LOT of people, so I'm very angry with them.  I have no reason to care though, other than the pure greed and ugliness in my face.

Just wanted to note, that by using any VPN you're deliberately putting yourself in a man-in-the-middle attack type of situation and the usage of non-HTTPS sites and non-SSL/TLS services should be highly discouraged! Also you're deliberately rendering any kind of firewalling that your local network provides ineffective and are potentially opening up your entire LAN to the world!

There are apparently some timing analysis attack vectors that I2P and Tor are vulnerable to, and because they are used for browsing the web and similar interactive activities, it's not really practical to add any delays for them. But would adding some random delay in every masternode before it passes the message forward make the timing analysis harder? Or would the delay make the operations take too long? Maybe it could be optional, and the option flag encrypted in together in the message layers.

Litecoin is old money. They don't go away just like that. If Darkcoin were a finished product 2-3 months ago, Litecoin would have been toppled by now. Unfortunately people took advantage of the very few negative points Darkcoin had and came up with all the *Send/Pseudonomous coins to split up the market in the interim.

Darkcoin is still the Darkhorse. Let's roll.

Also coins101 isn't trolling, but by golly coins101, please don't change with your Q & A !!! Some of the people in this thread are sheer dumb and will not stop chasing/quoting/requoting the actual trolls making a fool out of themselves and this thread, because apparently they were bullied when they were kids and so they will not back down here with their dumb agenda of trying to stop FUD by overdoing things.

I'd rather you keep them busy with your Q & A coins101 ! (seriously)

FUD is best stopped by ignoring it, especially in an unmoderated thread. The FUDsters are laughing behind your backs that one single entity can own this thread and keep the overall tone negative. The regulars in this thread have gone full retard with overquoting and humor quoting trolls when the best way is to just ignore and move on.
