Unfortunately suffer the Monero drama is part of the Dash ecosystem right now.
So maybe we need to help Monero drama to finish a bit earlier to save us from their constant spamming here? It sounds like a nice topic for budget proposal "Let's redeem Monero from the torment - let's help them to die". Where are all trolls? Excuse me, I wasn't going to scare you (I didn't mean "help all of you to die" - I just mean helping die the project that you support - nothing criminal, all the natural way). Please don't leave us completely - we need to have some fun here...

Damn, i feel sorry for Rubycoin's community already .. hang in there guys, eventually they will go away.... or better yet, fade away.

hi folks,
using darksend for the first time and have to say its takin ages to complete. i set it to four rounds and its mixing since 20h now!
Be aware of the fact that the mixing happens in masternodes (3rd parties who can log your mixing) and is mainly done by a few liquidity providers. FYI: there are coins out there that have default instant mixing without involving counterparties and that even can be done offline.

yeahhhhhh, the trolls are backk !! thank you lord, for the many thread bumps that will come with it.
Trolls, what do they use ?
* fud (spreading fear, uncertainty and doubt about Dash) * lies (trying to make Dash look centralised, dangerous or unsafe to use etc) * not many braincells apparently

I know right. He's touting instant mixing with "other" coins. Well that'll be a moot argument before long here. Keep bitching and ED will make DASH better!

This is how the algorithm currently works. Users submit lists of inputs and outputs, the masternodes either accept them or deny them. If the inputs and outputs violate a privacy rule (they must be uniform, etc), then the user will be denied access to DarkSend. Selection of the nodes to use is also random... what's the issue? We decided this wasn't a priority because we have built in Tor support. This was during the exploration of Darksend and other technologies, I hadn't made up my mind about the direction of the project yet. By the way, this is currently where the evolution project is at, there are many parts of it that are up in the air and we're figuring out what will make the best implementation possible, then we're going with that. This is just how development works for really adventurous projects. Is anyone else creating multiple tier p2p networks capable of paying autonomous agents that provide service for the network? To implement IP obfuscation it would push Evolution back about 2-3 months, then we would use it in v12 for about a year, then throw it out as soon as evolution came along, then I would have to redo the work again....What sense does that make? It would be better for all of us to have easier to access and more transparent information about DASH feature. Could you given us some hint about future plans and maybe DASH V13 ?

FYI: there are coins out there that have default instant mixing There are none with a public blockchain. All blockchains are public unless they only exist in a closed intranet. They might be "opaque" in the sense that you can't directly link one address to another within the blockchain, but the chain itself is available for everybody to see. Otherwise you couldn't run a wallet client on your home computer and connect to the network

If you are mixing, you are always mixing with someone else. And he can single you out (sybil attack). You can improve that (possibility of remaining anonymous) by increasing the mixing number, number of times you mix your coins etc. But there is always someone else (real or virtual) involved. But since high mixing creates some very sizable bloat which prevents the coin from being usable, the default level is pretty low in those "other coins". So, take my suggestion and instead of being in the Dash thread all day along with the other resident trolls, go to the XMR thread and ask your devs to make XMR scale to a usable level. XMR has to improve and become something more than an unusable proof-of-concept - although, to be honest, I doubt this can be done with the available technology. In any case, Dash needs better competition to improve itself further.

but the chain itself is available for everybody to see Thats a bit of a pointless definition of 'public'. A 'public blockchain' in all reasonable sense of the word is one that supports a public consensus as to its transactions and balances.

LOL AlexGR, DASH is already in the trash heap. The big DASH scam coin that can't even send a simple anon transaction in 20 hours.. i bet even Anoncoin and Shadowcash can do that.
Go back to the Dashtalk where you belong troll

You can mix passively, so if your assertion was about XMR it is erroneous. Regarding the bloating "problem" (which is imo not much of a problem, but I guess that depends on the perspective), there is already a solution for that, see [2] & [3] of https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/3swjv9/why_do_people_find_it_so_hard_to_accept_the/cx13ei3?context=3Anyway, let's stay on topic, since this is the DASH thread. P.S. If I recall correctly, intensive use of DS will also somewhat bloat your chain, since these kind of transactions tend to be relatively large as well. I am not entirely sure about this, so if anyone is able to refute me with some concrete evidence, feel free to do so. @toknormal, transparent & opaque might be better, but again a matter of perspective.

True, you mix passively, but you still rely on inputs that were used previously and until the fork happens, 70-80% of all inputs are mixin 0's. I wouldn't exactly jump for joy given that most services still use mixin 0 and there aren't many for large denominations.

Let's say tomorrow I start using Bytecoin / BCN for my anonymous transactions. Explain to me why Bytecoin is vulnerable from deanonymizing my transactions by those who have like 87% of the coins. What type of mechanism is there in place that deanonymizes me, and isn't the same mechanism there for Monero as well - even if the 87% stealthmine is not?

However, since basically everyone will switch to the new version, it will already be somewhat enforced. There was some confusion about this, which I clarified here -> https://www.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/3n06qw/there_seems_to_be_some_confusion_around_the/Anyway, let's stick to DASH, since this is their ANN thread.

If one entity has 87% of the coins it also has roughly 87% of the transaction outputs, because of this it is fairly easy for the entity to discover your real inputs. If one entity has a really large part of the Monero supply (say 75+%), Monero is subject to this as well.
