If I recall correctly if you go back enough pages to when the SG miner just got posted there were a few 290x configs posted. Can't help you there I'm on a 5970

sgminer.exe --kernel darkcoin --lookup-gap 2 --shaders 2560 -I 19 -g 1 -w 512 --thread-concurrency 32765 -o stratum+tcp://pool.darkcoin.io:3333 -u user.worker -p pass

Getting less than 2 coins/day right now with CPU mining.

GPU ruined this coin for me.

GPUs aren't making tonz of coins either. I just checked the stats of the last hour. At the current rate, a 660KH Radeon 5830 gets 0.17 per hour, which is 4 per day.

Coin scarcity and difficulty in generating them is traditionally very good for a coin's value. People appreciate it WAY more when they spend hours to get just one. So in the end of the day what matters is

coins generated * value of each coin

It's like 2 weeks ago... coin value like 0.000025 and making ~25 per day in my cpu (=0.0006btc per day). Then the diff escalated so I was making just 2 per day but the value was like 0.0005 (=0.0010 btc per day which is more).

Cgminer won't work.

-w makes a small difference but it depends on the card and the setting. Try them out and see what performs best with various values.

You are not using cgminer, but sgminer from the darkcoin gpu miner link: http://darkcoin.io/downloads/darkcoin-sgminer-windows.zip
cgminer is for regular scrypt.
You can try both -w 256 and 512, bu I'm sure 512 will be a bit better, everyone is using it with R9 290.
If you get any errors about thread concurrency, try lowering it from 32765 to 24550 or 20478, I think it depends on your engine clock speed.
