DarkCoin is unique in the since that it has a variable block reward that is based on difficulty. This means that while currently the block reward is 120, when difficulty rises the block reward will fall. Eventually the block reward will be driven down to it's lowest amount which is 15DRK. After that, every 2 years the block reward is halved again. So in 2 years, 7.5DRK, in 4 years, 3.75DRK, etc.

Actually, this all changed now.  People wanted a hard or harder set limit of coins.  It's on the first page how it's set now, with 7% drop in rewards every year.

groestl coin use DGW !!

Also Rotocoin and AIRCoin among other coins. Can someone please start a thread in the Alt Section about the coins who are using Darkcoin's innovations? Not try to shame them but really this needs to be pointed out. Dakrcoin isn't an old coin, it is just 2 months since release. Instead of letting it grow and mature, they are just raping the source by doing this.

Add H2O coin.
Also Genesiscoin https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=535935.0

Will be good to add the list of coins cloning Darkcoin features in that coins101 thread in altcoin section  Smiley

Great info! Is it possible to list Top 100 addresses? I had emailed bitinfocharts to include Darkcoin a while ago, they never responded. This is great.

New experimental feature for http://chainz.cryptoid.info/drk/:

"Guesstimated Wallets"

The blockchain is used to try and make educated guesses about which addresses belong to a wallet
(as you may have many addresses in a user's wallet, most of them being throwaway "change" addresses).

It won't find all the addresses of a given wallet (can't), but should provide extra info about address cross-dependencies.

This is very experimental, and not maintained in real-time (so only for older transactions and blocks), and probably buggy to some extent. I may also hard reset & rebuild the data occasionally as I experiment with new stuff.

That said the TOP 5 rich list for addresses gives

144327   XgV8FpC6Rh...
118622   XtrmiNg6bgS...
108423   XfXtF8w18d...
104409   Xnn3Wnd6W...
100005   XuYz59bMPr...

but the TOP 5 rich list for guesstimated wallets gives

499678   XdWdQXiC8...
144327   XgV8FpC6R...
120009   XtrmiNg6bg...
104409   Xnn3Wnd6...
100005   XuYz59bM...

From the look of it, XdWdQXiC8 is the wallet of an exchange (haven't bothered to lookup which, but if you find your withdrawal or deposit address in there, you'll know which it is). Also XtrmiNg6bg may have a second address with more than 1386 DRK in it.

Anyway, have a look at your address(es), and let me know if it's complete bull or if there is some shred of correctness to the guesstimations Smiley

If there is, I'll integrate it more. I'm not sure exactly how yet, but this can probably be tied to a variant of blockchain.info's taint analysis.

Nice, linked!

I'll look into it. Was planning to eventually have a full ranking table and the ranking available in the address pages.
That said ranking isn't real-time at the moment, it's only updated every few hours.

These "rules" are retarded. Noone will pay taxes on top of their bitcoin profits as long as exchanges don't fill reports who buys and sells what.

First and foremost: Similarly to Dogecoin, 1 DRK is equal to 1 DRK.

Evan was a visionary and anticipated Bitcoin's problems.

I nearly fell off my chair when I saw this:

The hash rate has gone from 100mh/s to 250mh/s.  The price has remained at $10k plus taxes and delivery.

Expect lots more miners here when they ditch scrypt in droves.

This is Cryptsy. I'm 100% sure other several hundred thousands are spread at Poloniex, Mintpal etc.

Seems to me like the distribution is quite good for a young coin and getting better day by day as trading continues.
I personally know quite a few people outside the bitcointalk who picked 1-3K.

this was pushed because it was paraded around as a "CPU coin"
read here.. List of CPU-ONLY AltCoins
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=379601.0
It's the third coin down and when it was added before there was no gpu miner mentioned.

it's a deceptive game and ploy to get people involved.. been there and done that time after time.

You are correct that Darkcoin was added to my list when it was CPU only. I added the notation about GPU miner as soon as I was aware it was available. Darkcoin is still on the list because GPUs do not currently have a very large advantage over newer CPUs. That is subject to change at any time. There may be optimized GPU miners but they are not in the wild.

Hi N00b, was wondering how your paper wallet fork is doing?  Are they going to put it on the main site anytime soonish?

Hey TS. I have no idea. I was offered a 5DRK tip for the work, but the tipbot on Reddit seemed to be broken at the time so I didn't get it, and I've heard nothing about it since. The creator of bitcoinpaperwallet hasn't answered any of the pull requests to add new coins either, so I'm a little disheartened given all the work I put into it.

Oh man, that sucks Sad  Did the guy lose interest or is he ignoring other alts?  BTW everyone, this is another paper wallet that n00b made, and it's pretty cool too:

https://github.com/n00bsys0p/bitcoinpaperwallet

I made a tutorial on how to use it here:

https://www.darkcointalk.org/threads/how-to-make-a-darkcoin-paper-wallet.116/

It's fancy and looks nice if you want to give a paper wallet away (like me to my nephews)

When I wrote that, I forgot to write in your tip account, I'm gonna put that in now Smiley

Hey everyone, I'm working on something for darkcoin. Something I think will bring a lot of value and interest to this currency and I have a lot of faith this will change my life. I have been working on this project for a couple of months now, full time, and have been making progress in completing it. Right now the only thing slowing me down is a lack of funds to proceed. Rather then sell all darkcoins to fund the project I have been forced to sell things around my house. Currently I have listed my volkswagon jetta 2006 TDI (turbo diesel) it is a PACKAGE #2 upgrade (leather seats, dual power porgrammable seats, heated seats, multi disk mp3, sunroof, etc) with 144,000 miles and I am accepting darkcoin (10,000 or best offer) for it. If anyone lives close to San Antonio, TX and would be interested in helping me complete this project and get a car while doing it, PM me. This would have to be a face to face transaction.
