THIS IS FOR TESTNET ONLY

****** PLEASE UPDATE TO v9.13.5 (Stable) OR 10.13.5 (RC) *******

- This should fix the endless splitting bug
- Overview updates when you update settings and click OK now

Stable Binaries
http://www.darkcoin.io/downloads/master-rc5/darkcoin-qt
http://www.darkcoin.io/downloads/master-rc5/darkcoind

RC5 Binaries
http://www.darkcoin.io/downloads/rc5/darkcoin-qt
http://www.darkcoin.io/downloads/rc5/darkcoind
People need to quit posting update versions that are testnet related in the main thread. It's too confusing.
I agree, but since you can't stop them, the best we can do is quote it with a big flag citing such...

Not really sure how it's confusing when it SCREAMS test net
Not all such posts do. Some are trolls trying to trick people into running testnet software on mainnet, which will result in the noise the trolls want...

DarkMix, the process
DarkSend, the action

Agreed. With the changes to the code, we aren't DarkSending anything. We are DarkMixing and then sending the results.

Why not name the phases:
DarkDenom or DarkSplit (denominating)
DarkMix (mixing in the required number of rounds)
DarkSend (sending money to other people)

Join us on testnet!

a) Download the latest test client: https://darkcointalk.org/threads/sticky-testnet-tools-resources.1768/
b) Run darkcoin-qt with the -testnet flag, or create a darkcoin.conf file with testnet=1 and then run darkcoin-qt
c) Get test darkcoins from the faucet
d) Start testing "darksend" by anonymizing different amounts through different numbers of rounds.

The more people we can get using darksend on testnet, the more quickly we can find any bugs. Literally no technical know-how is needed. Just download the test client, run it on testnet, get tDRK, and start playing with it!

I did think of that. Made the question a little more complicated.

I might do another survey on that one.

Care to link point c? I keep screaming at the computer to go to a faucet and get tDRK, but it's not doing what I say...

A generic date/week for RC5 would be great. That way we could hype.

I'm game for that. When it's ready, I'll just give a date a week out and let everyone do their thing. We'll see what happens.

Perfect, thanks man  Smiley

I don’t like the word hype as for me it implies exaggeration or positive misrepresentation and that is not what Darkcoin is about. I do think we should announce a proper launch date and give people time to prepare, especially if older clients will be kicked off the network. I run several masternodes for example, and will be traveling soon for a few days, I would like to know when RC5 is coming out to be prepared. Also whether we have enforcement or not pools need some time to update and if there is any form of enforcement then it wouldn’t be professional at all to do a ninja launch.  So giving some heads up is just basic courtesy and doing things right.

Having said that, there is also nothing wrong about creating awareness about our new release and letting the media know, that is just good business, but lets just stay grounded and keep the expectations realistic, focus on the innovations and what it means for the crypto world, not the price.

Hype was a bad word choice. Maybe buzz is better. I mostly meant getting the word out  Smiley

I want to bring something up that people keep harping on...

MN payments are dependent upon mining pools stratum protocol being updated to get MNs paid. We've seen how this gets abused.

We also know that Copypasters will shitclone it once it's open sourced...

We also know that Evan said he is saving a lot of stuff for "DRK 2.0" This was said a long time ago. I think there has been some mix/match going on with final features on this, but it has never been rescinded.

I'm pretty sure Evan knows exactly how to merge this into a hybrid proof that enforces MN payments. Maybe he just wants to see all the shitclones retain it... Maybe "not fixing this" is intentional, to assure that the shitclones will clone this glaring omission, too. Is every pool operator going to update their stratum for every shitclone? C'mon, think about it guys... Evan's not stupid. There is a reason for this, and if you're smarter than a box of hammers, you can figure it out.

Once Open Sourced, yes, it will get shitcloned. But it won't permeate. It'll be a mess for the shitcloners. It proves everything else tho. And while the shitcloners are making sandcastles of their own poop, Evan pulls the pin...

It's always had a pretty good vision behind it that has kept it going. Consider how the other hype coins have never matched that (except URO maybe).

Hype? No. A whale started buying like no tomorrow and then everyone came onboard. There was no marketing or hype.

Hype, buzz, whatever strategy, are overrated whether RC5 is ninja'ed or it's programmed. The moment it is announced that it will be launched at X date, then the market will price-in this launch after the announcement, and RC5 itself will be the "ok, now what?" point. Or something like that. So it doesn't really make a difference.

Precisely. The timing makes no difference because the move comes on the news. Then, they'll want the next news...

This is why we read forums; looking for news to make our decisions. Hype it in advance like a douche, or just let it be found in time, is the only real choice. Being a douche is not preferred.

The same results occur either way, so why be a douche to get them? Being a douche is optional and un-useful, so, uh, don't be a douche. Don't throw away something you have in order to gain nothing.

But the the hype did not cause this coin to crash. Impatient investors dumped it as soon as they saw a problem. If everything was OK, DRK would have been somewhere between 0.013-0.017 right now. Hey will have this go up 10time, but comes down, it will be still 3x 4x the starting price.

Yes, let's do a ninja launch again and not tell anyone about the open source Smiley Hush-hush.
So what there will be a pump? It will only bring an attention and more people will get interested in darkcoin. "Hype" is not a bad thing when we have a finished product.

The primary buyers / whales, kept the coin throughout the delays and forking troubles of May / June... They even bought the dumpers and we all stood in awe of how the price didn't give a fuck. The price started dropping through gradual dumping from 0.013 to 0.009 and then, near RC4, dumping accelerated, amidst a general climate of altcoin cashout.

In order to see the price moving upwards massively, whales must buy a lot of coins. It's not hype-related, it's buyer related. If whales don't come in the short-term, then it's all about the long-term plan of adoption and adopters money who use DRK, which will be a gradual process.
